Slide "bangs" when brought in

I have a 2011 Georgetown 280DS. The slides work fine but, when I bring the living room slide in, I get a "bang" when it is all the way in. It almost sounds like the slide isn't stopping correctly, and it is hitting something at the end of its transit. Anyone know what could be causing this problem?

It's a Lippert hydraulic slide with cables on either side. Does that help?

I had the same problem with my Berkshire. FR fixed it at Goshen by adjusting the cables. Seems mine were loose.

My 2011 Georgetown 327DS had the same problem once, when closing the street side (large) slide. It occurred when I didn't have the RV completely level and disappeared when I levelled the unit. I believe it was the cable anchor on the slide banging into the frame, caused by the slide being a little cockeyed because the RV hadn't been levelled.

Thanks, pmsherman, that could very well be the problem. My RV isn't level while in storage. I could try to level it and try the slide then.

Activate Slide Only When Level

My big front slide makes noises and drags when my Georgetown is not level. So I always level it before doing the slide. Both slides do make noises though but it's more of a "popping" sound. during transit and then a banging sound at the end. I try to release the button as soon as it hits bottom.

Are you sure it's not the awning over the top catching? My Hurricane has been doing it since I purchased it and hopefully they will fix it next week. The awning seems to drag and then snap after so much has been slacking. Before I actually saw it I thought some board was cracking. After I've watched it from outside I have identified that it was the awning. Not sure about how your make and model works but can't hurt to check it out. Just saying.

You're right, I can't eliminate the awning. I'll have to ask someone to watch it while I bring the slide in. Thanks.
