Slide on Coachmen 192RBS
I just purchased this 2015 Coachman. At the dealer when they were showing us the trailer the shear pin broke on the slide. They immediately repaired it. When we got home, 450 miles from the dealer, the shaft with the shear pin broke.
I hate slide outs and vowed never to own one but this was a small slide and we could find nothing we liked better. I set out to disassemble the slide mechanism and was shocked at how fragile it is. Self tapping screws into particle board, a single channel to operate the entire slide with nothing to align the slide left to right or top to bottom. I called the dealer and they sent out replacement parts at no charge. (Kudos to Hawlett RV in Coldwater, MI) The dealer also offered to walk me through the repair. I have restored two Airstreams and felt I could handle the repair.
The slide is operating but I do not give it long to stay in operation. This is flimsy and without using my hands to align the slide as it opens and closes it will certainly break again.
I would like to hear from some of you other 192RBS owners as to what is happening with your slide. Has Coachman done an upgrade since 2014 which can be applied to my trailer? Has anyone turned their slide into manual operation. It is light and easy to push in and out but locking it in is a project. I love the trailer and the many comfy features but this slide is a bugger.
