Slide Out Floor Separation

I own a 2013 Salem TBUD26 (purchased new). Less than a year after purchase we noticed water under the couch. Upon inspection we found that the corner by the couch had separated and I could see outside. It looked as the the floor wasn't properly screwed down. The dealer stated the screws were actually broken off from us standing on the floor by the couch while the slide was in the in position. We are new to camping (never told that we shouldn't step on that area when slide was in), but it seems to me that more weight than 180 pounds should be supported without the floor separating. Does that make sense to anyone? Our dealer supposedly fixed the issue, but on our last trip, the carpet by the couch became soaked. Last time the dealer repaired the slide despite the warranty being up. Our extended does not cover this, but I believe the issue is a manufacturing defect (floor separation result of improper screwing it down rather than our few times we actually walked on it with the slide in). My issue is that the dealer looks like they aren't going to cover repairs this time? Does anyone know if I have a legitimate argument in saying it was a manufacturer issue that caused the problem or could we have caused the issue walking on the slide when it was in (this happened only a couple of times).

you definitely should NOT walk on the slide floor when slide is in!
It raises up several inches when in and if stepped on it potentially can do what it did.

Now what I don't get is how this issue equates to water by the couch?

The floor separated to the point that the outside was visible when looking at the floor by the corner of the couch. We were told that rain came into the trailer through the gap created by the separation.

To clarify, we didn't walk along the slide out as much as stood on the area in front of the couch to load the cabinets above the couch.

Been there, done that and won't do it again. Don't walk or stand on the slide floor when retracted, only takes a few time to separate the floor from the wall.

Well then what about people sitting on the couch or at the table ( both in a slide) when traveling ? MH.They have seat belts for that purpose.

I had a similar problem with my Flagstaff, as you can read here:

http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...oor-34858.html

I believe the weight of the couch bouncing on rough roads is what actually beat my floor away from the wall, as well as the manufacturer not placing screws in the corner there.....as detailed in the fix in the above forum

I also now insert a wedge between the tt floor and suspended superslide floor when traveling to help support it. Just always have to remember to remove the wedge before extending the slide.
