Slide out topper causing problems

Hi all, I recently installed a carefree of colorado slide topper on my T23FBS. It's a 84 inch slide everything went smoothly and worked fine. On my last trip I had my wife open the slide after setting up and the bottom draged as the top wasn't moving out at the same pace as the bottom. The first thing I thought was too much tension on the topper so I pushed out on the top as she continued to open and it opened. Even closing the top comes in before the bottom and doesn't close evenly. It worked fine the first few trips, so my question is Do you think it is the toppers tension? It just doesn't seem to be under much tension. The slide out mechanism seems very chinsy. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Bob

I stated the trailer model, it is a 2010 wildwood. The slide is an electric above floor type which is all I know. It has one center track and seems very flimsy.

According to the manual, 13 turns is recommended on pg 6.

Evidently Carefree is a little different, they base the total wind on length of the awnings. Page 5 of attached.

My best guess is the topper tension is too tight for the chinsy slide out mechanism. I'm just concerned that if I release the tension it needs to operate correct will the topper retract properly.

1st thing to check is if the awning has the correct tension and go from there. Start by releasing all the tension in the awning and then go by the manual to set it properly. Work from there, if it's too much, remove a couple of turns and try it, if it still doesn't work, repeat...
