Slide out travel lock

I was just watching a few YouTube videos about slide out issues and how to diagnose them. Pretty interesting and worth looking at depending on your type of slide out so that you know what to do when it happens to you.

Anyway, the biggest thing I learned is that if I needed to manually push in my slide by disconnecting the motor (Schwintek type) I need to secure or lock the slide prior to traveling. I never would have thought of this and wouldn’t be prepared to do this.

Later today I am going to measure the length between the slide and wall and cut a 2x4 to fist. Paint it up so my kids or wife don’t burn it in the fire 🤣 and throw in a few shims in case.

I thought this was interesting and haven’t came across it in past threads. Hope it helps others be prepared.

We have a Schwintek slider on our TT and I don't remember reading anything about locking the slide in the manual. Can you post up that information and if they tell you how you're supposed to do that?

We found this out after preparing to leave our camp site in Yates KS headed to the rally in Goshen. Our main slide would not come in. We contacted FR to see how we could manually bring in. They sent us their manuals and told us we had to disconnect the motors. We were able to locate a mobile RV tech who drove over an hour to help us out. Finally found the motors and disconnected. Our friend who we were visiting there went into town and had 2 pieces of wood cut for us to do that very thing. Worked well all the way to Goshen. We were 2 days early for the rally but the factory sent out 2 technicians and fixed everything within 2 days. Look up Yates KS when you can and you will see how lucky we were to get anybody to help us.
