slideout awning?

my 2015 Avenger ATI doesn't have an awning over the slideout. I noticed at the parks that many rv's do have awnings over their slideouts. Is this recommended? If so, my slideout measures 12.5' wide (150"). If i order one, i am assuming i need the brackets and all but how wide does the vinyl need to be? 154" so theres a couple inches hanging over on each side? Or exactly 150"? Thanks in advance.

I think I would contact your dealer for the correct size. This is more than likely at least a two person job. They're kind of pricy as an aftermarket item compared to a built on at the factory deal. Very likely this can't be shipped except by common carrier(truck) instead of UPS or FedEX

Many campers come with them if the dealer orders them that way or if certain packages are ordered. Yes they are nice and help keep debris off slides and help cool. Contact your dealer for ordering info for size. As mentioned they are a little pricey when added on after. Later RJD

I ordered mine from www.shadepro.net. The website explains how to measure and their ordering process provide simple click selections.

I just had one put on for the dinning slide. 13 feet. It cost $466 installed. I went with basic white. Didn't need one over kitchen slide since the main awning covers that as well. I got a price from CW then went down the road to a company that only fixes campers and installs accessories. They do not sell campers. They did great work. I also found out they are a Forrest River authorized repair center and now handle all my warranty work. I found them by looking up domestic awning dealers. Definitely with putting an awning over the slide.

I have put them on. Not to hard if you have a helper, two ladders, and follow the instructions. As someone above said Shadepro are great to do business with. They normally run discounts around holidays so ask if you order.

2 schools of thought on the slideout awnings... those for and those against... I fall into the 'for' category.

basic argument FOR is that they prevent sticks/leaves/etc from falling on the top of the slideout when it's out and then having to blow/sweep the awning off before it can be retracted.

basic argument AGAINST is that if something gets lodged in between the awning and the top of the slide there is no way to get to it because it's covered. have also heard complaints of flapping in the wind. I have not experienced either of these issues personally.

YMMV, I have one on my super slide and like it.

I had one installed by my dealer on my 23ikss . Cost about 400 as I remember. Maybe could have installed it myself but I just wasn't ready to drill holes in my new at the time camper. Come to think about it, I still wouldn't want to do it. Main thing, I consider it money well spent.
