Slider Out Of Alignment

I would like to take the time to share a quick story and also to see if any of you have experienced something like this. This winter while working on my camper getting ready for the new season I rolled out my sliders about 10inches allowing me to spray the foam treatment on the rubber seal. What I noticed is the box was rubbing to one side. The opposite end had about a 1-5/8" gap. So it appeared the box was out of alignment. I called dealer and scheduled an appointment while I still have warranty on the camper. I carried last Friday thinking this would be a quick fix. Only to find out we are on week #2 waiting on a parts price and to get warranty approval. I thought I would be picking up this Friday but they will not even have parts by this Friday so we'll be going into week three. Well here is the interesting part. The dealer is telling me I hit something with my slide out. I like to flipped out. I have $71,000 in a very nice camper that I'm taking care of and on top of that spent another $6000 to put it under a shelter. I have not hit or been in any wreck. The dealer mechanic said it does take much to knock them out of alignment. Well before someone ask. When it goes out it locks in place as designed, upon closing it the same applies with it coming in until you here the click. So Its in. So have any of you ever had a slider to get off track from just traveling down the road? I assure you I'm taking care of camper and going above and beyond to make it last me for a long time. But can ya'll give me some feed back. Hec I can't even get a straight answer to what is damaged. Puzzled in NC

My guess is that the dealer is clueless! They are experts at stalling. I bet no parts are needed. You stated it went out to the limits and came in to the stop. What could be broken. Call Forest River customer service and ask for authorization for service.
Find a mobile tech in your area and explain the problem to him on the phone. Ask if he has experience with slides. If he is experienced should be able to fix your problem in under an hour. Don’t let one who says “I think I can” even come out. The slider WILL get out of adjustment going down the road if it was not sufficiently tightened. Mine did. On the ends of the slide out arms are adjustment plates to level the slide. See the BIG bolts. Lippert techs at Goshen showed me how they adjust. By placing some blocks and a hydraulic jack under the slide you can adjust it to level. Once they are correct your problem should not reoccur. Slides are not difficult when you understand how they work. (Think about who manufactures, installs, works at the dealership, not rocket scientists.) I changed a gear pack under mine successfully.
