Stuck Rug

I managed to get a small area rug stuck in my full wall slide out. There doesn't seem to be any access to the area between the bottom of the slide and floor.

It appears to keep the slide from extending fully - about an inch of travel left in fully open position but it closes completely.

Any ideas?

You may find if you bring the slide back in they usually tip up slightly and it may be enough to release the pressure.

Have someone ready to pull slightly on the rug as it starts to come in.

My experience with slides... is that when the slide is near full extension they will level out and tip the inside edge down to be more flush with the inside floor....I'm not saying 'all slides' but it may be the case with yours as well.

Make that 3x. Been there, done that more than once. Have someone pull on the rug as you move the slide out and then back in.

When things like this happen, it’s a two person job.

As has been suggested, one person at the control switch, another has a firm grip on the rug. In small applications, run the slide in and/or out as the rug person firmly tugs/pulls on the carpet. It may take a few times in either direction, but it might still come clear. Easy does it and just a bit at a time.

Thanks to all for replying. It was a 2 person job but for a different reason than suggested.

My wife and I tried the "one person operates the slide while the other one "pulls like h..." We had zero success with that,, even though, as noted, the slide does tip up (from interior perspective) as it is extended. But while she was still inside I went outside, pulled the lower rubber seal down and shined a flashlight in to see if I could see what the rug was hanging up on.

She saw the flashlight ("honey, I've never seen a light there before" ) and was able to direct me a bit until I saw the bunched up rug.

In the slide fully extended position the rug was easy to touch from the outside but I didn't have any tools with me at the time. I returned today with a bunch; I was either going to free it by brute force or cut it into pieces.

My first idea worked. I brought the slide in about six inches, reached past the lower seal and grabbed an edge with a pair of channel locks. By carefully pulling edges whenever one appeared I was able to mostly "unbunch" the rug. Returning to the inside I gave it a tug and out it came.

Small note posted next to slide control now - fold rug before retracting.

For those waiting for the outcome for so long, I apologize. My rig is parked at my daughter's ranch, 45 minutes away, and it took this long to get two people together there at the same time.
