I only use them if I'll be driving on curvy/twisty roads.

Slide Supports
We have a 2011 Rockwood Ultra Lite 2607. When I bought it, the Service Manager at the Dealer told me that even though the slide supports had been supplied by the manufacturer, it was not necessary to install them while traveling.
Last summer when traveling in the North East we were on some rough highways.
One day when I entered the rig, I found a broken ceiling light lens and a large chip out of the cabinet frame under it. The only way I can see this happening, is the slide had to bounce up. I am now a firm believer in installing the slide supports when towing.

The answer seems to be close to 50 percent each way on the slide bars.
I was told that if I were to disconnect the electric motors to manually close the slide, then I must block it in the closed position before travel, other than that situation has anyone on the forum ever heard of an incident were an unblocked slide has opened during travel ?

Just read the reply from Mrt2607. This might answer my question but did that slide travel out or did it move around within its frame and would supports help that situation ?

Looking at this video the top portion of the long slide has opened up. The bottom is where the sliding mechanism is and is intact. The front slide mostly has a Schwintec system and has not moved....so it's everyone choice to use or not.....I do on my unit.

Ok you may or may not need them, depends on which mechanism you have. How do you tell which one you have. Owners manual is not model specific and does not tell who made them or if they are hydraulic or electric. This is my first trailer and am kind of in the dark here. Thanks

In the four years we traveled with the unit not using the slide out locking bars, I never had a problem with the slide moving in or out. It moved up when it was closed in the "In" position. I don't know if the locking bars will prevent this from happening again, but I will use them. I had the slide mechanism checked and there was no damage done to that, but the slide did have to be realign a bit.

Add your trailer information here and someone will be able to help.

I think if your unit came from the factory with slide lock bars, FR would have put square white stickers on the wall above the slide to indicate where they should be placed. Whether or not you choose to use them is up to you. I always will. They only take a couple minutes to install. Just make absolutely sure you remove them before trying to open the slide!!
