first post....2015 rockwood minilite 2109s bought at lakeview OH 3/16/15....travelled 1830 miles to home in az......the delivery walk around failed to cover the slide bar thing that goes center top when slide closed...found the bar in underbed storage and had no idea what it was until I investigated a bit. my ? is.....what unseen damage could have occurred travelling those 1800 miles [in 2 days!]...some of the road potholes and bumps really tossed the rig around....are there guides that could have loosened.....it slides in and out ok.....seemed a little rough first time extended then smoothed out.......anything thing I should worry about...send letter to dealer to get notated incase of later troubles ?...is this a biggy or am I needless paranoid .

When camping last year we got caught in 65 mph gusts. Pushed the tops of the slides in 4 to 5 inches. They still work fine, If yours work OK, just go about your business and stop worrying.

Muntu, I too have those slide jacks. I haven't used them on my Rockwood for any of the thousands of miles we've traveled. I don't plan on it either, and they've never moved an inch or shown any evidence to be detrimental to my slides for not using them. Breathe easy.... and welcome to the forums!

when I bought my 5r the sales department said never forget them. Every time I've had it serviced from sane dealer the service department never puts them in place and I do not have any trouble with the slides. I still put them in place today.

On our Mini Lite 2504S, there is stickers on the wall that talks about using them, but the dealer never mentioned it, and we have never even seen them. If they are in the trailer somewhere we are yet to find them???

I use them occasionally for long hauls but not often. Last 6 trailers had slides and none were affected from not using the bars.

I have the Flagstaff Version of that trailer and have yet to use the Slide bar. In fact the tech doing the PDI recommended against them.

Last year we took trips every other weekend from may to October and never once had an issue

I had those in a camper I used to have and the dealer described it as a piece of safety equipment that should used every time - so I used it. My concern would be the insurance aspect of not using them if something should happen. If your manual recommends using them, I would.

I had them but didn't use them. They prevent the slides from coming out during travel. In hind site I think I would use them. If something were to happen be it a service tech or a state trooper, the first question would be " we're the slide bars in place?" I don't think I would want to answer "no".

It's a good idea to use them, I had a problem with a bedroom slide, I had to cut a 2x4 to lay in there. I would hang something somewhere telling you to remove them before opening. I know I would forget it was there, and would cause a big problem for you. You just never know. You can't get complacent with these units the way they are just slapped together. Better safe then sorry...

I think it is what you are comfortable with. The right thing to do though is probably to have them installed while on the road.

Having said that, we have never used ours and have pulled the trailer across Canada twice from coast to coast. Have done BC, Yukon and Alaska.... and more. All in all probably 70,000 plus km or 40,000 plus miles, never had a problem even on some of the roughest roads.

I try to use the ones on our 2008 Cardinal however the difficulty in attaching them, doesn't make them easy. I'm six ft tall and still have trouble placing them on the marks where they are supposed to go. Seems a slide latch would be so much easier.

Is this something all TT have if they have slide-outs? We have a 26RLWS and I do not have any nor was one mentioned during PDI; our unit has 2 slides.

You would have them if New purchase, however a used purchase might be without them.

I'm not even sure whether my XLR 27HFS has them. They were never demo'd if it does. I haven't seen anything in the literature either.

I was told electric slides would need them, hydraulics do not.

Do all Trailers with slides come with them? I have used my 2015 Coachman Freedom Express 322RLD once and don't remember seeing those in the walk thru and have not found any. We have three slides. Should I get some? Thanks

It may depend on the brand of slide out. My Shamrock had them but my Salem does not. They are two very different mechanisms.
