Water on slide out

Good afternoon everyone.

This morning when we left the campground to come home, there was a bit of water on the top and side of our slide out from rain and condensation this weekend. I got as much of the water off as I could, but when I ran the slide out in, a fair amount of water dripped down off the top and sides into the camper onto the floor. I had to grab a few towels to soak up the water inside. Does anyone have a recommendation on keeping the water out when bringing the slide in?

I usually just run the tounge jack up to drain the water, when i'm getting ready to hook up to the truck

Slide toppers

X2...slide toppers. Otherwise your going to run into the same problem everytime it rains. Either toppers or a ladder to get up there and brush the water off. Of course if it's raining at the time you want to pull them in to leave...oh well.

I carry a ladder and have a windshield squeegee on an short extenda-pole to get water and debris off. Also use to get sticks and acorns off awning so they don't damage it when rolled up.

X2. We raise or lower front to drain water before bringing in slides. Occasionally will sweep pine needles off the slides if needed, from the top of the 5ver. Slide toppers help a little, but you will still get water on the slide during a storm. Plus they flap in the wind (noisy) and are one more thing to sun rot and maintain. We opted to not get them for this rig and are happy we didn't.

I always sweep off our slides before my better half runs the slides in.

I carry a leaf blower to use on the roof and tops of slides.Works well and takes just minutes.

You should always look and see if there is any sticks/leaves/debris on your slide. You do not want to drag the 'stuff' into your rubber sweeps and damage them. tilt your unit and sweep everything off before bringing the slide in.

"I feel your pain". Our present camper (2017 Rockwood Ultra Lite) was ordered with awnings on both slides. Kind of pricey, but worth it. The previous camper we owned had one slide with no awning. I've used them all...towel, mop, leaf blower etc. to remove standing water or crud. As stated earlier slide toppers don't stop all the problems but in my humble opinion they are a big plus.

Old bones take too long to heal so ladders and walking roofs are out.


Slide toppers shed the water... never comes in. No critters either. Noise?? Never hear anything from the one over the kitchen, not the one over the recliners/table either. Especially not from the one over the bedroom which is right over our heads.
