Have treated the seals and gaskets on our Lexi for 6 years now. Treat every other month, and they are still as good as new.
You DO NOT want to use ANYTHING with a petrolium base, or anything containing oil of any type. It will eventually dry rubber out. Both WD40 and silicon contain petroleum, 25% for WD40.
All silicon and WD40 will do is prevent sticking. Does nothing to preserve the rubber or vinyl.
Baby powder may be OK, but when it gets wet, it is messy, and it dosen't last.
Lots have their preference, but at least try to use something that is specific for your needs. WD40 or silicon if thats your choice. But keep in mind that slide seals are expensive, around $3 bucks per foot.

Silicone spray does NOT contain petroleum.

Silicone (not silicon) in a spray can does not contain any petroleum.

OK, siliconE may not contain oil. BUT, it does contain "petroleum distillates" and/or liquified petroleum gas"
Anyhoo, your choice.
Another great use for 303 is on your vinyl graphics. Using any type of carnuba based wax on vinyl graphics is a no-no. Will eventually dry the vinyl out. If you wax, avoid the graphics and wipe on 303 over the vinyl graphics.

Silicone spray does NOT contain petroleum.

The petroleum distillates are the propellants used to get it out of the spray can.
They are volatile and evaporate instantly, before the product reaches the surface the spray is being applied to.
As noted previously, the Silicone that is applied contains NO petroleum.

I would also note that 303 is not a lubricant.

303 is ment as a preservative. Never advertised as a "lube".
No need to "lube" rubber slide seals, but to treat and preserve them. I use 303 on my tires as a preservative, not as a "lube"
Anyway, you go ahead and use your siliconE or WD40 if it makes you happy.
OP wanted to know what to use, and having used 303 for many many years, gave my opinion, just as you gave yours.
No argument or pissing match intended.

Aerospace 303. Also use it on the tow vehicle door seals.

The original thread asked about a lubricant and preservative.
I am interested in the complete accuracy of the advice and information given here.

Silicone slide out seal spray has always worked well for me. 303 is also a good product, but I use that on vinyl graphics and tires.

Slideout seals

I use WD 40 water resistant silicone lubricant on my rubber seals and WD 40 dirt & dust resistant dry lube PTFE spray on my tracks.

I fall into that category. 8 years and my seals still look like new. Tried it once, my seals were so slick the wipers stopped flipping in and and out . Never used it again.

WD-40 will also act like a magnet for dirt. If I was willing to use wd-40, I use silicon spray instead.
But I'm not so I'll still to the 303

Used to use 303, but it made the sweeper seals too slippery to "flip" when the slide was opened or closed. Only use it on the D seals now.
