Turn your oven control to pilot, push in on the knob and hold a lighter or match to the pilot outlet. You will see the flame engulfing a small rod. This is a thermocouple. When it gets hot enough, it produces voltage and opens the gas valve that feeds the pilot. Once that happens, the pilot light will stay lit when you stop holding the oven knob in. Let go of the knob and the pilot light should stay lit. BTW, if the pilot should happen to blow out, the thermocouple will stop producing voltage which will close the valve that feeds gas to the pilot light. Thus, there is no worry about gas leaking into your camper.
