2011 36RE Wiring Question

I have a 2011 CC 36Re Touring Edition with the Gen Prep. I have purchased a hard wire Surge Protector and was wondering is anyone know if all of the power always go through the Transfer switch. Even if there is no gen and whether you are on shore power, battery or generator.

The reason being that if the power is always going to the transfer switch then in theory I can mount the surge protector immediately after the transfer switch.

As the transfer switch is in the front compartment it would make for a very easy install.
