2013 Cedar Creek Cottage 40CFK Kitchen Island

Howdy,

Our Cedar Creek Cottage has an island in the middle of the kitchen/dining area. It's both convenient and a nuisance. We've decided that it would be nice to have the island on casters so it can be moved around to accommodate different cooking, cleaning, dining, entertaining needs. Our 40CFK isn't used as a towable trailer. We've got it setup as a Park Model in a campground. When we have to move it, the island will be secured by the opposing slides and other furniture. I don't mind losing the 120V outlet since we never use it.

Has anyone done this? Or, know how the island is secured to the floor? Any hints on examining the floor attachment?

If anyone's monitoring from the factory, any chance of getting a set of mechanical drawings to show how the island is fastened, wired, etc.? As well as what's needed to get to floor attachment?

Did you ever find out anything about the center island? I saw one on a 33RL Silverback and I want to put one in my 30RL C/C and also put it on casters. I plan to take out the couch so I will have a place to put it when on the road

Hi,

I had a local service tech take a look at the island. He felt the island was secured with screws. The island is built for the manufacturer not the end user. The bottom cannot be removed to give access to the screws. The tech felt that the side and back panels would need to be removed to give access to the screws. In order to do this, the trim needs to be taken off. Because of the numerous staples used to tack the panels on (thin material), it's possible that the panels and trim will have to be new because of severe damage removing the panels.

There's also a 120V jack on the island that will be removed and converted to a floor mount jack with screw cap covers.

We use the Cottage as a Park Model and had to close up for the season, so we'll be looking at having the island modified next summer. No comments received from factory. As a matter of fact, no responses from numerous other info requests made by our dealer to customer service. Supposedly, change of personnel at factory.

Hopefully, I'll remember this post next summer and post some photos here for others to benefit from.
