2014 36CKTS front side skirts let go

So, I guess I'm still as confused as I was before. It seems that OldCoot's pictures where the side wraps around the bottom is similar in concept to what you showed (where the side comes down and is affixed to the bottom of the camper).

It seems that the Flagstaffs use an aluminum strip whereas the Cedar Creeks use individual screws with washers.

I wish my camper were back so that I could actually go out and look at it. But I feel it's similar to the Flagstaff.

Unless I'm missing the whole point.

I can't see OC's pics but the FR pics clearly do not show the skirt screwed to the bottom of the Frame as you describe. It only shows the skirt going to the top of the frame and you really can't see what's holding it. Maybe there has been a change to newer units??? No change to the Creeks which is the important part.

Edit: Maybe the frame is too thick to use
a screw strip with self tapping screws. Having to drill and then screw would add
significant cost. Just a thought.

Clearly a problem of looking at a brochure and looking at the actual campers. They haven't updated or changed the way of attaching the skirt since 08 when we got our 831RLSS which is the same as our 12 8528RKWS.

As I write, the unit is currently at the dealership having these last three items repaired. There are other items that were or have gone wrong since we picked up the unit in August of last year. I will be happy to share issues those with you as well. Just PM me. I have owned three fifth wheels and this is the most problematic of the group. I expected some issues just because of the complexity of the systems, but this is probably a little over the top. Luckily none have been safety related and I hope that continues. Geese. Sorry to hear about all of those issues. I hope they get them worked out for you. No more issues have come up on mine yet - but I'll keep my fingers crossed.

When I replaced all the original screws, I used #12x3/4", self tapping screws along with 1" fender washers. I had the same problem. I also added one between every screw the factory installed.

Had drivers side let go while driving. After I repaired and got to my destination, I checked the passenger side and found they had all pulled through as well.

Still under warranty so the question is Replace both panels or are they less likely to make it worse by repairing and adding reinforcing strips underneath.

I would get 1" wide x 1/8" thk strips of alum and run the screws thru the strips and skirting into the frame rather than use washers to get more holding all along the skirting. Our Flagstaffs had/have an alum strip the complete length of the skirting the screws go thru.

Might also consider caulking along the edge of the skirting to keep the air from infiltrating.

Wouldn't take it to the dealer and let them mess it up.

I added fender washers to every screw on the skirting. I also added four screws per side. I did this because I was cautioned about the possibility of them pulling loose.
