2016 29 RE Water Filter
I just picked up my new 29 RE ordered back in January. I have been following the CC section of this forum daily and read about a few not so happy owners having problems with the canister style water filters. I was going to install a by pass as others had done but found on this unit there is no such filter. (unless it's hidden).

The filter is most likely behind a panel, given that you have a new 2016 it may not be in the same place as the others you have read about so you will need to hunt for it.
I would start with the curb side basement to your right side if that is where your water hook up is.
You will likely need a #2 Robertson square drive bit.

What does your owners manual say about a water filter? I had notice on the newer models 2015 at the RV show in Feb of 2016 that I attended the water filters were not on the models on display. I did not know about this issue until I was on the site after we ordered a CC34RL.

I did not read the manuel yet with the holiday. The tech did say if it was not on the docking station I don't have one. If I find any other info I'll post it.

I thought they no longer put the water filters in new CC units. If so, you are lucky. I just took mine out and filled the gap with two Sharkbite 90 degree fittings and a 5" piece of Pex.

Where was the filter before you removed it?
It might help the OP.

I see, based on the colour coding.
Quote:
Currently, there are five different Robertson screwdrivers available, with suitable screw size indicated by the color. Orange drivers (#00) are appropriate for use with screw types 1 and 2. The recess size range (the size of the corresponding square imprint on the screw) is from 1.77-1.80 mm. Yellow drivers (#0) work with screw types 3 and 4 and feature a recess size range of 2.29 to 2.31 mm. Green drivers (#1) operate with screw types 5, 6, and 7, with a recess size range of 2.82 to 2.86 mm. Red drivers function with screw types 8, 9, and 10 and have a recess size range of 3.34 to 3.38 mm. Black drivers work with the largest screws, types 12 and higher, and have a recess range of 4.81 to 4.85 mm.

They dropped the filter in the 2015. I called Forest River about it and was told to many problems with them leaking

We picked up our new ordered 35 QB4 and our was not there either. Further research indicated that they deleted it from the options. We have bought an aftermarket unit at a Camping World, hopefully it does not have the same problems.

Thanks for all the replys. As I stated in my post I was going to do without that system anyway. Just purchased a Camco in line filter.
(always drink spring water anyway)

It looks to me as though Cedar Creek changed to a different style of water filter housing and those are the ones that unscrew. I don’t consider no longer providing a water filter to be a fix for the unscrewing issue. The water filter housing in my Silverback is the same as what I had in my previous two Wildcat fifth wheels and they never caused a problem. When I go on the CC plant tour at the Goshen rally I plan to ask them about the lack of water filters in the new fifth wheels.
This water filter housing I’ve had in all three fifth wheels.
This was the newer style of water filter housing.

I never had a problem with mine but another guy I know had a lot of issues with his but he has had issues with about everything in his trailer can't leave well enough alone. With that said hand tighten and never use a wrench you will not have issues. If it leaks you have issues bad gasket or chip in housing.

Please list the parts and DIAMETER of the PEX and SHARKBITES.
I have not had a problem but the filter is a P I T A and a dumb addition. The external add ons with 2x annual replacement always worked well for us.
Going to take mine out.
Tnx

Why not just take the filter out, put the canister back on and forget it?
