2016 Champagne Wish List & Solar

We purchased a 2016 Champagne that was driven under a low bridge that tore the roof off just 3 months after it left the factory. I drove from Galveston to the factory in Indiana and purchased everything I needed to make the 38EL brand new again.

We are choosing what modifications we want to add to the RV. This is an upgrade wishlist. I'm already adding the following.

Dish satellite on roof
Winegard RVW-395 Sensar IV Antenna
A 3rd Air Conditioner for those hot summer days
2 external plug-ins (one on each side) for exterior solar panels.

Rebecah thinks we should look into adding a more Solar. I'm trying to figure out how much solar we need and why. Any thoughts on this?

Lastly, is there any other items experienced RVer's might have liked to see added?

We also aren't sure if this is the right RV for us because we don't really stay in one place for very long when we travel and I'm not retired (yet). I may complete the repairs and place it up for sale. If your looking for a brand new 2016 Champagne. It was purchased from Campers Corner for 88,700. I am thinking of asking 58,000. I have all the original documentation. PM me if you're interested and we can start a conversation. Keep in mind it has a salvage title. That has some really good parts to it and one bad one, I wasn't able to get financing for a salvage title so I had to dip into the savings account when I bought it.

Just my two cents but I wouldn't purchase a camper that had went under a low bridge and had the roof taken off. But to each his own, enjoy your camper.

I'm an Air Traffic Controller and I suppose this kind of stuff could be called my Hobby. I love taking on projects that let me use my hands and tools. The great thing, and the reason I chose to take this project on is that a Forest River Glues and Screws their RV's together. Making the repairs isn't difficult, just time consuming. To each his own but I love doing this stuff! It also keeps me out of my wife's hair and that's never a bad thing.

Larry, I have followed your posts about the repairs you have done on the 38el. I have to commend you on the amount of repairs you have completed. I'm sure it will be a quality camper when you get finished. Hope you decide to keep it and get many years of enjoyable use and safe travels.
I wouldn't pay too much attention to the people that have to comment on every post, but have nothing positive to say.

You say it was purchased for $88,700. I hope that's not what you paid for it with a damaged roof!! $88,700 is about what they're going for new.

NADA says average retail is $67,150 and low is $55,750. And I'm assuming that means with an original roof.

That's the price that was paid when it was driven off the lot by the original owner. I really haven't given a lot of thought to a sales price. It's a little too soon for that really. We have to finish the repairs first.

That's good. I was afraid that was what YOU paid for a damaged unit. Whew!

I only have a 23ss hybrid and I thought a extra fan vent over near the stove would be great. the stove exhaust really doesn't help as much as I would like it to.

With the third ac unit, you will have no powered exhaust vent. I find that a must have when cooking unless you like the sound of your smoke detector

I have a Cedar Creek and I hardly ever use the power vent. The vent over the range pulls everything outside. The only time the smoke alarm goes off is when I test it

Thanks everyone for letting me know about the power vent. I'll check into that. Cody, Do happen to know why the 3rd AC stops you from having a powered vent?

The 3rd air conditioner is installed in the opening that a vent would be installed.I asked about that when I ordered mine.
