33IK inverter powers ??

We have the 33IK with residential frig and I am wondering what the inverter powers. Specifically, with the water heater switch set to ON to use the elect element, while traveling is this on the inverter circuit? Or, with it set to ON, will it only be powered when hooked to shore power. Seems it would be a pain to need to turn it on and off outside each time we connect or disconnect from shore power. But, I have not been able to find what exactly is powered by the inverter.

Thanks for the help.

Inverter supplies 110 VAC from battery(s) 12VDC. Inverter powers fridge when off shore power ... that's it. Battery powers 12VDC lights, radio, CO2 detector, level up, fridge control board, heater fan, and solenoids, water pump. Shore power does electric side of hot water heater, TVs, microwave, AC outlets, A/C's, ceiling fan, and converter.

I have a question also. So when traveling down the road hooked up, turn the inverter on? When hooked to shore power, turn it off?

Yes,
The inverter is not required to operate the fridge when you are on shore power.

When traveling down the road, Yes, turn on the inverter that way your frig will be operating off the batteries and your tow vehicle. When you hook up to shore power, turn off the inverter. Note: you must turn off the inverter or your batteries will not charge.

sorry for sort of robbing this thread, but I thought it may help the OP. Thanks for all the info.

Also wanted to mention, on my coach, the inverter is for my fridge only.

Just a word of warning. Make sure the inverter is off when hooked to shore power. You will not like popping all your breakers.

I just picked up my tlr 38fb2 and have yet to use it but my dealer told me the inverter had to be on for the fridge to work, should I believe him or is he misinformed on the matter (confused)?

When plugged in, the shore power should pass though the inverter.

Actually when left on, the inverter draws a small amount of current from the 12VDC whether supplying 120 VAC or not.

There seems to be a lot of confusion about the inverter for the Cedar Creek. The inverter is only connected to the residential refrigerator, period. No other a/c outlets are supplied by the inverter.

The inverter can be left on when connected to shore power. It is drawing minimum current from your battery and your battery will still charge. It will not pop any a/c breakers. It is just in standby mode waiting to sense when the shore power a/c to the fridge goes away. It will switch over in milliseconds if the shore power should go away, say at 2AM when you are sleeping or when you are away from your rig and there is a campground power failure. (not that that ever happens

I generally turn mine on when I pick up the 5ver and then after hooking up to shore power I turn it off with the button on front of the unit. I've also left it on while connected to shore power. It is doing nothing at this point, just in standby. There are status indicators on the front of mine that tell me when 120vac is being used and when it is on battery power supplying the a/c to the fridge.

Just remember if you do turn it off when on shore power to turn it on before you depart your campsite.

It hurts nothing but the use life of the unit. You are always safe if there is an unexpected power outage...

So then, with the magnum Hybrid inverter..
It's also a charger. I'm wondering if it needs to be " on" to charge the batteries?

Im sure it does. I just did a little research on the Hybrid Inverter and it is a battery charger when it is in standby mode. When in standby the inverter circuit actually acts as a converter and charges the batteries. When the the shore power on gen power goes away then the batteries stop being charged and supply current to what is now the inverter. It would have to be on I would think to activate the hybrid inverter/converter.

I found this on the web. I don't know if it is your exact unit but there are some nice power flow diagrams on pgs. 30-31

Actually it is a 24v unit but the functionality is the same I'm sure..
