Residential fridge decided to go for a ride. The board going across the front of the fridge on the floor is held in by two screws. These two screws went in the floor a 1/4". This is not sufficient to keep the fridge in place on Michigan roads. The board came loose and our fridge ended up next to the island. Used more screws and made sure they went deeper into the floor. Just make sure not to go too deep as it will affect the opening/closing of the slide. Love our Cedar Creek but this should never have happened.
I would think you need to as some bracing at the top also I know I would
They have a metal bar at the top holding the fridge down so it doesn't jump the board. I just can't believe they actually thought two screws in a 1/4" would keep the fridge secure.

I'll have to look, but I don't recall a bar located on the top side of my fridge.

The Bar you mention is a piece of angle iron. Mine was anchored into the sidewall behind fridge but not into the top of the fridge, allowing it to tip out during transit.
I too was concerned the metal bar would not help if the fridge leaned forward. I attached an eye hook to the bar. Then attached a hook toward the front of the fridge with a SMALL screw and connected the two with a cord.
I have that L bracket in back, but not the bar thingy. It's just screwed into the top of the refrig. It has come loose, and it's way more noticeable with the slides in.
It's on my FROG Fix List.

We too had initial issues with the residential fridge ending up in the middle of the kitchen of our new CC and displacing the board above. We were on a two lane road in New Mexico and came upon a over turned truck car and fire accident blocking the road. The troopers directed all traffic off the road, down the roadside ditch and up the other side, along the grass past the wreck and then reversing the directions. Down the ditch and up the other side back to the pavement. Admittedly this is not a normal daily occurrence but one that anyone may encounter. When we arrived at the campground the fridge was in the middle of the kitchen. While this was an extreme occurrence, the factory bracing was totally inadequate.

My 20 cu ft French door residential refrigerator recently moved forward. It was held in place by two screws, placed through the front feet brackets into the floor. Both screws sheared off.
Those of you that have a board in front of the feet, is that all that keeps it from moving? Is there anything to keep it from moving backwards against the wall?

When my fridge moved forward, the two screws in the board just pulled out of the floor. I just added about 6 more screws. You need to go at an angle or they will go through the slideout floor.
The fridge tight up against the back wall so it will not move back any further.
Ours is a few inches away from the back wall. It was not fastened down at all from the factory and would walk forward away from the wall. While at the rally last year a CC tech put a single screw in each of the front feet to keep it from walking. Didn't seem to help much, so while at the factory after the rally, another tech added a piece of aluminum angle to the front of the fridge frame and into the floor. It hasn't moved since. It does have a bit of rocking when the slide is retraced.

I am wondering if your refrigerator is the same as mine. Is it the freezer on top model or the freezer drawer on the bottom model?
Is the aluminum angle attached to the frame between the wheels, but not in front of the wheels? Did the tech attach to the frame with sheet metal screws or screws and nuts?
Thanks,
Chris

Here is a pic of mine. It is a Whirlpool 20 CU FT French Door, Bottom Freezer Drawer model.
So far I replaced the two No. 8 screws the factory put through the feet brackets with No. 10 screws. In both cases they sheared off. Now I have two No. 10 screws in front of each leveling foot to stop forward movement. Each of the four (total) screws is 3/4" and placed 7/16" into the floor and stick up 5/16 above the floor.
I am still looking for something better.
My fridge is stable on the floor when the slide is out, but rocks when the slide is in. I wonder if that rocking motion will break a screw or rip it out of the floor if I use a angle aluminum as keith52 has.

racer4, yes, I have the same Whirlpool fridge. One photo shows the bracket the factory installed that is working so far. I might suggest an angle bracket that runs the entire width from one wheel to the other with several more screws. Just remove the wire basket from the bottom freezer drawer to install the screws in the floor.

Thank you for the pictures and info. The pic of the L bracket helped me understand how to replicate the same thing.
That L bracket in the middle of the bottom frame looks like a good idea.
The rocking motion of my refrigerator, when the slide is in, happens at the left front and right rear. So screws or a bracket on the left side would probably fail. So maybe another L bracket on the right side, in addition to one in the middle would work.

Ours is the same way, however on closer inspection, I discovered it is the entire slide bouncing, not just the fridge! It wasn't like this when we first got it. It's #1 on our rally fix list.
