38FL Inverter Install and 12-V Wiring Cleanup
Well spring has finally sprung and it was a nice weekend so I got to complete a project that has been waiting for a while... Clean up the 12V wiring near the battery and install a new 1000W inverter for use with the TV and Sat when boon docking...
What it looks like from the factory (except the 500 Amp Shunt for the Tri-Metric meter)
This is the dual 50A circuit breaker - not sure why they use two ganged together instead of a 100A breaker - this is what supplies 12V to the camper.
Added new panel for mounting
All installed - I only need to install the remote start switch for the inverter and wire in the auto-cutover switch for the entertainment center. I was hoping to run the Keurig too but the Mini uses 1454 W. May try to find a B130 that is designed for the Hotels and only uses 700 W - takes longer to brew but not an issue for camping.

I should point out that the user manual for the FACTORY installed 2000W inverter calls for #1 wire with a 300A fuse. It was installed with #6 wire and a 150 Amp fuse. Started to replace the wiring and will replace all wiring and fuse some time soon.

Power Usage Numbers
Here are some numbers of our power usage by device/appliance... These are all measured as 12V power draw (120V AC Appliances as measured through the Inverter use). Inverter power use at Idle is based on nothing plugged into the inverter. All measurements are done using a Trimetric 2030RV with 500Amp Shunt.
Items Amps

Walter,
I just went through the same exercise when I was planning my solar system. Only items you left out was the 6 point level, slides, and awning ah usage.
Very clean install looks great! Are you installing solar also?

I didn't measure the slides/awning/level-up as those are usually one time events (well except maybe the awning) and didn't figure those are too big of a worry for me.
Yes the panels and controller arrived today. It is a 200watt system that I got for very little money from someone so it may/may not be the right system but it is a good system to start with for very little money. Time to read up as I am not 100% sure about putting them on the roof yet or just setting them up on a pole each time we are out (only 2-3 times per year at this point for boondocking)
Lots of reading to do before I install the solar systems.

Yes, even though the hyd pump is not a reoccurring event it is a significant amp draw even though short in duration.
Yes I worried about the where to mount and how to fasten the panels. But once I laid out some cardboard the size of my panels on the roof I was able to figure the best location. IMO, a nice thing about our roof is there is a lot of real estate. I just hated drilling that first hole in the roof.
If you haven't already, check Jack Mayers website. Great information. RV Electrical
