Adding LED Lights Under Unit

Would like to add some LEDs just for outside decoration purposes but don't really know where to start. I have seen RVs in campgrounds with various color LEDs and it is really nice.
Anyone know a source for these and what is used for the electrical source? Photos on how they are installed would be great.

I just bought multi colored 16 ft. String at Wal-Mart around 15 or 20 bucks. A lot cheaper than paying 125 bucks which you can. I'm just going to lay the string under my R.V. and plug in to my outside outlet. I bet standing back it will look just as beautiful as one that is hooked to the underside. If it looks as good as I think it will I may pick up another one to make a bigger string being I have a 38ft. Class A. At that price how could I go wrong plus there multi colored.

Just don't go "Overboard" ! Nothing worse than being parked next to trailer that resembles Madison Avenue at night time. Be courteous with them.

I installed the LED strip from Amazon, taped and reinforced with exterior caulking, plugs into the outside receptacle. Just for a light glow!Click image for larger version

So that when I take the dog out at 3am I have some light. I don't like leaving a porch light or awning light on because it projects light onto the neighboring RV.

Also, sitting out at night the low position of the LEDs provide enough light to chat and visit without flooding light across the campsite.

That's a whole lot different than the "decoration purposes" you mentioned in your first post.

Folks here have complained for years about other folks pimping their rigs with all kinds of lights. When you originally said... "just for outside decoration purposes"... the hormones on this site started raging!

I bought multi-colored round tube light sets, 18 foot strips, two of them from Amazon. I attached them under the trailer using nylon ties that feature a mounting screw hole as part of the tie. I used 1 inch long drywall screws thru the screw hole, which allowed for about a 1/2 inch bite into the floor of the trailer. In some place like across the front and across the rear, I placed the light tube over the cross members and secured with nylon ties. Instead of stretching the lights tight, I zig-zagged the rope lights to use all of the 36 feet around my 21' trailer. The result is very subdued indirect ground lighting. Enough to not trip if walking around trailer at night. They have been working fine now for 3 years.

I started at the wheel well opening leaving the 110 V plug end long enough to plug into the outside receptacle. When traveling I leave the 110 end Velcro'd to the outside of the trailer using the 3M industrial strength version of the fastener, found at HDepot.

led light strips require 12v dc. most come with an ac adapter similar to laptop computer ac adapter. just find a recepticle. RV recepticles turn off wen not connected to shore power which is perfect. I bought at amazon. come in 16.4 ft and 32.8 ft. white or red, green, blue. also buy a "RF" controller (radio frequency) and works from around 30 ft thru walls. IR (infrared) is like a tv remote (line of sight). here are links to amazon. they are also dimmable.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/Achivy-Waterp...f+remote&psc=1 (also in clear tubing for easy mounting on underside)

If you decide to get away from the white lights, check out post #6 on the forum post shown below

Yes I got some led weather proof from Amazon about 30 for everything and it come with sticker backs and installed it on the main steel rail under the unit that way the light doesn't shine in you eye and down in the ground it came with remote be sure to clean the steel before installing they been on for 3 years still working great you can plug them in the outside outlet or run another cord. I've had lots of folks like them
