Adding Shocks

Has anybody ever added shocks to their Cedar Creek? Looks like I have the bar for the slide out in the way on the outside?

Oc added them to his flagstaff if that helps.

Yes, and I think it might help with my toilet bowl emptying when going down the road, it splashes out.

you have to drain the toilet before travelling. nothing you do will stop the water in the bowl from sloshing out while travelling. turn off the water pump or turn off the tap if you are hooked up to water and then flush the toilet until empty.

If your emptying the toilet, then how are you getting water on the floor from it?

OC loves his shocks from what I have read on here about them.

Sorry I was getting water on the floor till I started emptying the toilet.

38FL and I have never emptied the toilet before travel - and no water on the floor.

I think it is because of the 7000lbs axles and heavier tires, and not being loaded close to the higher capacity of the trailer. Everything in the cupboard on the other side of the wall from the toilet is always a mess also.

36 CKTS, never empty the porcelain, no water on the floor. No shocks.

The shock design on multi axle towable's, are not for up and down motion like motorhomes, car's and truck's. It is front to back motion between the axles. If you look at the hanger's you see they are at about a 45 degree angle. That is the reason for the air pin boxes, equal-flex type axle connections, etc., the Dexter air suspension, or MorRyde IS system, this all are designed to help smooth the units ride. I agree with Ducky, we had 7000# axles, changed to 8000#, then changed to MorRyde IS. NEVER had any water from the commode come out, and we've gone over some pretty rough roads. One time (before the IS system), we were on such rough roads, we had three cabinet door opened and broke some things, several pictures come off the wall, but not one drip of water came out of the commode. Actually, most places are taking any shocks off, if they are still on. A few years back, the shocks were twisting, bending, or coming loose. They would rub and cut the tires, causing a lot of damage to units. Before I added anything, I'd talk with Mike at CC, ask him to see what he thinks might be happening in your situation. I'm sure they can come up with an answer.

My Flagstaff has torsion axles and the shocks work great for stopping the bounce of the trailer as well as preventing it from telegraphing to the truck. With torsion axles, there is no back and forth action like on spring suspension and the walking beam. We leave the coffee maker on the rear counter and have towed to FL twice and from NC to Goshen, IN to Trenton, MO and it never moves. Don't know how the shocks can twist and cause damage unless the mounts bend or break.

Make sure your tires are balanced. I always had my TT tires balanced. Always got a look from the tire guy, why?, I told him so my beer would be fizzy.

I never had problems with water splashing out in my 2008 37RDQS even before changing the suspension. However, I do have the TrailAir on the front of my 5er. I also now have the MorRyde IS and their disc brakes on it now. I'll never have another 5er without it.

I also was thinking about shocks. To keep from flipping my shackles. Had it happen last trip out, now I am real gun shy.
