We got our new 2018 36ck2 Hathaway in January. Ordered with rv frig( we like to Boondock) fold up 4 step, on board gen, 2nd AC. What we didn’t know was the low point drains hang down outside with no shut offs and the water lines to washer go through the un-heated front compartment. How’s that not going to freeze in cold weather? Now we just found out from forest river that our second grey water tank is strictly for the washing machine. What a waste since we don’t have one and would prefer to use it for the kitchen.
It drains into the tank with the bath sink and shower. It fills up to fast within 3 days with both of us taking quick showers and doing dishes. Water has already backed up into the kitchen sink. It would have been nice to know before hand. Even the labels on the levers where wrong. Couldn’t figure out why the one tank was always empty! Will have to see what we can do about the tank.

We have a 2018 34rl2. We don’t boon dock much and we do not have the washer. My husband is now going to check about the tank now that I have mentioned this to him but we are pretty sure that our second grey tank is just for washer too as our shower backs up into the kitchen sink when full. Funny how we never thought about it until you mentioned it.

I have the 2016 of your model. Unless they changed in 2 model years, one grey for kitchen sink. 2nd grey for shower and bathroom sink. Our labels on levers were wrong also. The low drain points won't freeze because they are open.

I have a different model but the the washer shares gray tank #1 with the bath sinks. Anyway, if you get a shutoff valve ($22 on Amazon) and place it on the main sewer outlet and close it, you can then open the two gray tanks and they will equalize and give you more gray water storage.

First unit I ever heard of that has a tank solely for the washing machine. I'd bet a large coke someone gave you bad info.

It's easy to figure out.......a bit time consuming.......just run one water spigot at a time, and see where it dumps into.

On our River Stone Legacy the washer drains to the galley tank. I asked the factory so I knew which one to be sure.

What florabama posted is how our 2017.5 34RL2 is plumbed. We also added a valve to the dump hose attach point to gain additional gray water capacity as we too do not have a clothes washer installed and the #1 Gray tank only collects water from the vanity (bathroom) sinks.

Another point is that the #1 gray tank seems to be mounted lower than the #2 gray tank (it's in the forward, dropped part of the frame) as when connected together as above it is the first to fill full when interconnected. So, the technique I use is to allow the galley tank (#2) which also collects from the shower to fill before interconnecting the gray tanks as it gives me a better estimate of how much gray water capacity I have remaining. That way when the #1 tank is absolutely full I can shut it's dump valve and I then have some remaining available capacity in the #2 tank for another load of dishes at least.
