Back-up light circuit pn 2013 Cedar Creek

Does anyone know if the 2013 Cedar Creek has a circuit for backup lights. I'm installing Magellan's addon backup camera and it needs the backup light circuit for installation. Don't relish the job that entails running a wire the full length in a new 5th wheel.

The tail lights on the trailer should have backup lights in them.

Was there a reverse wire at the back or did you run a new one?

I am guessing that is a factory (couple of names and numbers floating around here) question.

On our 2013 we don't have backup lights. (seems crazy to me), but not sure about there actually being a line for it there.

I would seriously doubt that there's a back-up wire run to the camper tail lights. One way to check for sure would be by looking at the wiring from the campers 7 pin plug. The back-up light wire would be on the center terminal.

Why only backup?

Why not use any other source of 12 volts at the rear end? The camera won't be damaged by being "on" all the time (or at least during "lights on" time) and there would be a number of other ways to shut it off (the monitor portion). One possibility would be to power it from the marker lights. Just a bit inconvienent but if the alternative means running new power... Unless I'm missing something here. Interested in doing this myself so will watch for your success, etc.

I am actually looking for power at the back only when in reverse. So yes your idea is fine for a backup camera, it would be like having a rear view mirror when going down the road, it won't work for me.

When I get to the install, I found there is 1) no backup lights on the coach and 2) there is no wire for it either. Dang it! Had to run a separate wire (40 + ft BTW) them wire it into the 7 way connector.

How hard was it to get to the wiring for the trailer plug at the front of the trailer?

Besides standing on you noggin not hard at all. The 7 way has the wiring already, I just connected the new wire to it. Would have been a lot easier about 35 years ago though!

Travel safe & enjoy the ride!
