Battery disconnect
I have a 2015 Cedar Creek 36CKTS. For normal operations connected to shore power should the battery disconnect switch be in the on or off position?

Generally, on. Although there is some debate about whether or not it's good for the converter to supply 12V power for extended periods, I know from experience that it will do so. It normally won't, however, allow the converter to charge the battery when the disconnect is off.

Thanks Turbs. For a moment I was wondering if I should be turning it off or not on my unit.

Thanks. It's sort of confusing.

No not your answer the switch itself. The switch is labeled battery disconnect. It has two positions on and off. I assumed that battery disconnect on means the batteries are disconnected from the coach. Vice versa battery disconnect off means the batteries are connected to the coach...

No, no...you're fine. I just took a string of replies the wrong way. I do that sometimes. As to on and off, probably makes more sense to say connected and disconnected.

When you are using the trailer, definitely keep it in the on position. Most things will not work in the off position. On my trailer, when in the off position, the only things that seem to work are the propane leak detector and the entry light when the screen door is opened. Not sure about the converter though. But the lights don't work, and I like to see at night. Jerry.

Hope you replaced your faulty converter with a good one that can be left on.

Just to make things model specific, your 36CKTS disconnect switch connects/disconnects the battery from the power distribution panel which powers your converter/battery charger. There is another power box in your front garage that powers your wireless remote, porch light, landing gear and brakes among a few other things. That fuse box is not switched. It's also the reason why your batteries will still drain if you don't disconnect them or use a solar/electric battery tender.
