Battery disconnect question
Is this the right position for this switch hooked up to power

DUCKOGRAM is probably right but this is another example of a misleading placard. Does it reference the disconnect or the battery? I would check for power inside, lights etc. (not hooked to shore power) for each position. Just a thought.

Hmmmm. Had my neighbors go over to open our trailer up today and the slides would not budge with the shore power on, but with the battery disconnect in the "off" position. Hope there is nothing else wrong.

Wow that is a misleading label....a big fail on the engineer who designed it! (My disconnect is just a little push/pull silver knob)

There is nothing wrong with your Cedar Creek, the switch must be in the on position for the slides to operate. The slideouts require a strong 12 volt source to operate the slideouts, the converter alone doesn't provide enough 12 volt power.

Thanks! I thought that was the case. I thought the pump would at least make some noise even if I had shut off all the slide valves at the manifold.

Hummm, mine work just fine when hooked to 110/120v with the battery disconnected.

Does your Chaparrel have a hydraulic slideout or electric? Is your Chaparrel hard wired to the battery? Not all fifth wheel brandss are built the same. Even so, changes are made to these units from year to year. Regardless, a strong 12 volt source is required to operate the slideout of a Cedar Creek. If the hydraulic slideout operates with the switch in the off position then it is probably hard wired to the battery.

I'm with Bob on the issue of operating the slides on the converter alone with the disconnect switch off (no battery power to RV). The hydraulic pump pulls a boatload of amps (40+ amps) especially in cold weather. Trying to rely solely on what DC power the converter can put out to open and close the slides is an unwise practice. Other than long term storage, why turn the disconnect off anyways? Like said, perhaps the pump is wired around the disconnect like the propane detector is.

The unit was in long term storage (winterized). No worries as we'll be there on Friday to open it up for the season.

It references both?
off = no power
on = power
Seems pretty clear to me.

How can it reference both. If the disconnect is on there is no power. If the power is on there is no disconnect. Ambiguous at best.

You're over-thinking it IMO.

on = power
