Beware of Plumbing

I have had 3 significant plumbing leaks since buying my 33IK in April. In each case the plumbing joint should have had teflon tape or pipe joint compound. Not a single one did. Thank you for the great QC FR. These types of shortcuts aren't easily forgiven due to the effort to correct after the purchase.

It generally not advised to put pipe joint compound on plastic fittings, but I know what you mean about leaks on new units.

Can I ask where they were I got my 33IK in May and it would be nice to check and see if it was the same irresponsible employee putting mine together.

Not defending or pointing the finger at any of the rv manufacturers. But, I'll bet money that if you look at any new rv, none will have teflon tape or joint compound. The new plastic fittings are either glued or compression fittings. I know my previous rv had bare fittings and I had to re-tighten a few several times. Just part of the rv adventure.

Plastic fittings typically do not require Teflon tape or compound. That said i use it anyway when doing a repair.

These were not plastic fitting:
1) kitchen faucet where sprayer hose attached to faucet, not sprayer end.
2) bathroom lavatory feed. Brass pek connector to cold water side.
3) hot water output from water heater.

I realize #1 was a FR supplier and not FR staff. Assuming kitchen sink comes preassembled.

Thanks I can check mine now with extra attention to these ones.
