After 4 years and about 10,000 miles I decided to pull hubs off and inspect wheel bearings, every spring I would pump in grease thru zerk fittings,I cleaned old grease out of bearings and repacked by hand, all bearings and races looked new,no grease on brakes, then while greasing wet bolts discovered driver side rear spring hanger bolt was snapped in two.Last time 5th wheel was out we were on 1200 mile trip to Tn. Waiting on new wet bolt and bushing. After searching on web, I see I'm not the only one that this has happened to.Is there anyway to check these bolts?Anyone have any luck with Lipperts solid bolts and never lube bushings?Getting ready for a 4000 mile trip and don't need this to happen along the road.
I had that happen to us last year. Greased everything before leaving from Wisconsin to Mesa AZ. This summer when I was greasing I noticed that the left rear spring eye bolt was missing. Not sure if it broke or came loose. I have had trailers for many years and have never had to check spring bolts, but I do now.
