Cargo Capacity

We were looking at the 2012 36RD5S with a cargo capacity of app. 3,000 lbs. Changes in the plan got us looking at the 2012 38FL. Cargo capacity for it is listed at 2,000 lbs. Length is not that much different. Anybody know why the 38FL carries so much less? Would 2,000 be enough of "normal stuff" for a couple comfortably doing the full time lifestyle? Appreciate any help I can get.

Could be an error on their specification sheet.

If you look at the specs for Cedar Creek, the camper's GVWR minus the hitch weight = total axle weight. The 36RD5S for example...15635 - 1635 - 14000 (7000 lb axles). For the 38FL...15550 - 2550 = 13000 (6500 lb axles). This doesn't make sense? It seems that Cedar Creek uses either 6000 or 7000 lb axles for their floorplans with the exception of the 38FL. Perhaps the pin weight is incorrect and should be 1550 lbs.

Dave

Edit: The dry weight is 1247 lbs heavier on the 38FL than the 36RD5S and the GVWR are virtually the same.

The pin weight on the forward living room floor plan is much heavier than other floor plans.

The cargo capacity may be less on a delivered unit.
Our TT was advertised as having a dry weight of 4300 to 4500 lbs depending on which specs I looked at.
Delivered with options/accessories 5300 lbs.
2000 lbs will quickly go away if the specs are truly a bare bone no option factory weight.
Look at the weight sticker of a delivery ready unit sitting on a lot. THEN subtract that from the GWR.
