CC Hathaway Edition Website Update

Finally, CC has updated the Hathaway Edition Features, Specifications and Photos. A couple of things caught my eye.

1. Going to 16" tires. Wondering why they moved away from 17.5" tires?
2. Radius wrapped bottom medal skirt to frame. Is this something new? What is the advantage?
3. Front and rear "True" gelcoat with front painted cap. Painted front cap has been much needed after all of the fading issues. But what really is "True" gelcoat and won't the rear caps continue to fade?

Just wondering. And BTW, I have an appointment tomorrow to get a trade in quote on my motorhome and will start the ordering process for a 34RL2.

I do not believe 17.5 inch tires were ever offered for the 34RL or any of the Cedar Creek models, when I was looking in 2015 and 2016. I purchased a 2016 34RL which we love.

The metal wrap I believe is done this way to prevent wind buffeting when towing and to improve arrow dynamics with the trailer. This also provides a seamless look with the enclosed underbelly.

It may have been a misprint but the website and sales brochure did say 17.5"
tires. This to me was an advantage since I have a newer 4x4 which is high.

That was a misprint on their part.

I have a 2015 F350 with 35" tall tires on it and have about 7-8" of bed rail clearance and the trailer might sit about one inch nose high with the truck level. So I think you will be fine as long as you do not put a lift kit in the truck.

Cedar Creek makes pretty campers. But I plan to keep my Creek for as long as I camp.

mor-ryde steps

My wife and I recently went to our local dealership to see the now standard Mor-ryde steps on Cedar Creeks. We really like them, they are wider, much more stable and don't extend all the much farther out then the folding steps.

I wasn't sure I would like them, but am looking forward to them on our 36ck2 when it comes in.

To each his own but there is no way I could ever use those steps. But that's why they make Fords,Chevys and Ram trucks

As Spock said, to each their own. You may want to check out the thread I started awhile back concerning these steps. http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...ps-117617.html Many folks expressing their concerns with them. I for one will not purchase an RV with them.

I am surprised. Have never seen a 17.5 inch tire in a load range "G". Can't see any advantage over a 16" in the same load range. If they are the 215 size they will be the same diameter as a 235 -16. What brand and size are they? 17.5" wheels and tires are originally designed to be used on commercial lo-boy trailers. They usually come in a load range "H".

We went to a local dealer here in Oregon to look at the Cedar Creeks. We thought we wanted a Solitude by Grand Design...then we fell in love with the CC 34RL2. We like the sturdiness of the new MORryde steps but they don't work for us. We have an RV pad that is between our house and our fence. Those new steps would swing out and hit our fence as opposed to the traditional tri-fold and quad-fold steps. We are going to order our 34RL2 soon and the dealer contacted FR and they said they could make the trailer with the old style steps. Not sure how long they plan on doing that. I truly believe they should make the old/traditional steps an option.

Also on the FR site it states the 34RL2 is 37'11" in length and yet most dealers that have some in stock show 37' or even 36'8" (Couch's RV Nation). Would be nice to know the true length.
