I print this information about the manufacturers hitch weight whenever a thread about it keeps running.

The RV trailer manufacturers hitch weight serves one purpose and itís establishment is mandatory. Itís used to keep the trailer manufacturer honest about the trailerís GVWR. Once the trailer manufacturer establishes the GAWR values they must also establish a hitch weight. Once established and published they cannot change it. However, they are allowed to use a range. When that is done the lowest value in the range must be used in the trailer weight calculations. According to FMVSS the established hitch weight is added to the trailerís total GAWR. The sum must equal or exceed GVWR. End of story.

If you do the math that gives you an 18.99 percent pin weight. My old calculator is on its last leg and lost the left side of the number 8 which made it look like a number 3, thus 13.99 or 14 %. Okay, I'm not losing it yet!
