For those of you that have a 34RL...what are you using for a tow vehicle?

Well I have a 32RL which is not as long and I pull with a Silverado 3500 SRW diesel

We have a 34RL and are pulling it with a Silverado SWR 3500 Diesel also.
I think we could get away with a 2500 but in this case bigger is usually better....

The new Silverado 2500HD diesel can really pull more camper than mine 2012 can. The 2500 is a little cheaper and it comes with TPMS, the 3500 does not. The 2500 can tow a fifth wheel that weighs 17,300lb.

Hi, I have not pulled the 34RL yet as we have just ordered the unit. We will take delivery in April but will tow with a 2500HD Ram 6.7L Cummins and the 68RFE 6 speed auto.

I pulled my 2014 CC 34RLSA for the first year with a 2011 Silverado 2500 HD Duramax with Firestone air bags. Recently got a 2015 Silverado 3500 HD Duramax SRW. With the pin weights of these CC you really need a one ton truck. Just my opinion.

You can always have too much camper but never to much truck, plus you may want bigger camper later, then you have the truck. I like Chevy but Ford is good and so is Dodge, I like the ton truck

We pull our 34RL with a 2011 F-250 6.2L glass with 373 locking rear end. We pulled our 2009 Cardinal 31RKLE all over from Texas to the redwoods in Calif to Virginia and the Shenendoah's. Our cedar creek is only 300 lbs more than the Cardinal.

If I bought a 1 ton SRW Dodge Mega cab that is of the same model year (2008) this would increase the GCVW by 1,000 LBS. The trucks are all most identical except for one leaf helper spring on each side of the axle spring pack. Same drive train and tires/wheels for both models of truck. So if the 1 ton SRW truck can pull this than my 3/4 ton can also.
By the way I do not carry fluids in any holding tanks never had and never will this to me is unnecessary mass that depletes the fuel mileage when pulling. This is my third 5er since we got back into camping.
Thanks for the concern but I am not a newbie for pulling.

Thanks! We have a dodge ram 2500HD laramie turbo diesel. We currently haul a Silverback 29RE-2013 considering upgrade of FW only, not TW. It's not sounding so good...maybe we don't have enough truck. We did add super chips for better hill/climbing performance/awesome results.

What year of Ram truck and what type of drive train do you have; 4X4, 3:73,4:10 or 3:42 gear ratio?
This will help in determining if you have enough truck or not. If you have a 2013.5 truck and newer these have a pretty substantial tow weights allowances.

Cedar Creek 34RL
Today we hung out at the Good Sam Rally in AZ. Great job by Good Sam!! Got to meet with "Mike" the Forest River/ Cedar Creek rep for Avondale Camping World. It was a real pleasure to meet him. He was extremely helpful. We are currently in Silverback 29 RE, but now looking for a residential Cedar Creek, nothing too big. We are true Cedar Creek fans. They didn't have the 34RL on display, but he did say we need a one ton...
