When we did our PDI the dealer dedicated a very knowledgable technician to our PDI. He found most of those same items we pointed out; he had a solution or plan to get it repaired in short order. He worked with us, demonstrating any system operation or item we that had questions on. On items that were outside that dealers capability, as well as those items that were within, he coordinated with FR/Cedar Creek warranty administrator (Justin Day Ph: 260-593-2598). Before we hitched up to leave, FR, the dealer and we had a clear picture of what was needing further attention on the trailer. Did he find every flaw, no but the PDI identified the majority of problems before we took ownership of this beautiful trailer.

Thanks. As far as the trailer, nothing yet, they are "supposed" to make it a priority today but as far as I know they havent truly diagnosed it yet. They took it to their shop but havent looked at it yet, so the problem I was told was just speculation I guess, by the make ready guys. So I am still waiting.

Hi - am waiting with baited breath!!! I too have this model on order - and pray it has no issues as I am in the UK which is where the unit will be shipped when she's built! (a couple of months away)
Fingers crossed she's perfect - I don't think the manufacturers warranty will cover me over here! (although to be fair there are enough dealers over here to sort any issues, and the company I'm dealing with are good as gold in the UK!)

Well I now know I WONT be upgrading to one of these...holy cow. You'd think it would be cheaper to just hire someone at FR to sit there and act like they are camping for the night everytime a trailer is finished. 75% of there business must be warranty repairs.

However - bear in mind that whenever things are bad or go wrong - everyone knows about it - when they are good - who ever says anything positive!!!

Its fair to say that over here (UK) Cedar Creek are considered one of the highest quality units currently regularly imported - so I remain confident

Dave, let me say Welcome & congratulations on your choice in trailers. As probably most have never visited the British Isles, they can't appreciate the magnitude of your choice. On my last visit, I don't remember seeing any 5th wheels on your roads. My hat is off to your because, having driven UK's back roads, I can most appreciate the challenge you face with a trailer the size of your choice. I recently upgraded mine to the 36CKTS Custom and do not regret one thing about the decision. It's fit & finish is without a doubt, a cut above the other trailers we considered. After spending almost 8 weeks in her since the first week May, we have her in the shop for maintenance & a couple of small warranty issues. We bought & took delivery in PA then traveled home to TX with her. FR has been good in the warranty department & Justin Day is a good resource to work with <jday@forestriverinc.com> Ph: 260-593-2598

I don't want to hijack Avi8or's thread - but just to respond about 5ers on UK roads.

There are quite a few over here now (hundreds rather than thousands!) and the new style Lite trailers towed by UK pickups are getting more popular.
However - there are a good number of large 5ers over 36' being pulled by Ram 2500/3500 and F250/350's.

Yes - you have to be choosy about which sites you go to regarding pitch size, access and roads - but we have a thing called the Big Pitch Guide which is a fantastic resource where all of the contributions are from RV'ers and there are still hundreds of suitable sites in the UK and Europe. Indeed, where we are going in Southern Spain (www.campingalmafra.es ) is a mecca for RV's and 5ers for the winter!

Our roads are generally OK - after all - if a delivery lorry or 'trash cart' can get there - so can we usually! A good satnav, road map and Google Earth are all essential!

In any event - its an adventure and if it were easy everyone would do it!!!

So - A

Pitch is not only the axis through which an aircraft moves up and down - but combined with Yaw and Roll enables it to fly and navigate

It is also B -

A UK term to describe the 'plot' or 'area of hardstanding' or 'piece of marked out land' on which your trailer/caravan/RV/motorhome sits on when its on a site. Most sites have marked out 'Pitches' as well as general 'free for all' grassed areas where people camp. Well just to update everyone, I am due to do my pdi on friday at 10 am, BUT, they found another hydraulic problem. It is just a hose this time and they showed it to me today. It looks like it is about to pop, so they are going to replace it but don't know if they can get it done by the Friday pdi. I am not thrilled by this but at least it was caught before I was on a trip and had a problem. I am trying my hardest to maintain patience but I am so excited and frustrated at the same time. I have a house full of stuff ready to load up, friends and family asking so when are going to pick it up. It almost too much to bear, but I grin and bear it and act as if nothing is wrong but its starting to get to me a little.

Well when it rains it poors. They finally got all the hydraulic leaks taken care of and was ready for the pdi tomorrowbut it wont happen. Why? Because while they were transporting it from their maintenance shop to the make ready area they hit it with the headache rack on the truck. They were using a short bed truck and I guess the driver was new or something but he turned it too much and kissed it. I am so frustrated and dont know what to do. My options are wait 2-3 months for a new trailer, put a new front cap on it or do a repair with the fiberglass. I am told if I do the new front cap it will not look right because of color and it won't line up just right, so I would always be able to notice a difference. They said the fiberglass repair would be undetectable. The salesman said that the best options for me would be to order new or do the fiberglass repair. They would be willing to order me one now and try to get it to the front of the line as best as they could.
I don't know much about fiberglass repair but I am concerned they are just wanting to go the easiest route. I don't know about the front cap but it seems logical that it wouldn't line up perfectly or at least be more noticealbe because the colors would be slightly different. I have been waiting since May 14 and I don't want to wait any longer but I am willing to if necessary.
I have seen the damage, it looks like a number 7 and it appears that it is just superficial and it didn't penetrate the interior closet. If I did it, it wouldn't be that big of a deal, I would just get it fixed. But they did it before I have taken ownership, so I think they should definitely lower the price if I allow them to repair it. I think the warranty for the repair should be the life of the trailer or at least my ownership of it. Does this seem reasonable? I am open to your comments as well. Here is a pic of the damage.

Ouch!!!

If it were mine, after I settled down following my grand mall fit, I would insist on a new trailer. Period.

In the interim, this dealer would be convinced that he provide a loaner (the damaged unit or similar used) for use until a replacement is available. You paid good money for a new trailer and deserve to have it that way, even if it takes a while longer. I would however, suggest to the owner that a like unit might currently reside in someone's inventory that would not require as long of wait as with manufacturing it. It may require some compromise on your part however.

Remember, if you decide to take a repaired unit, it would forever be "damaged goods" lasting for as long as you own it. I would not entertain a repair unless I was convinced that it is as good as new and that the "damage discount" they offer is sizable enough to offset any future loss to me connected with this episode. Remember, Truth in Lending, if a potential buyer asks about damage you must answer truthfully about what you know. I would think this holds true for both the fiberglass repair and new front cap. Damage is damage regardless of repair method.

In the mean time, chin up, tomorrow stands a good chance at being a better day than today! Wish I could provide something more positive for you. You have my contact info if you need anything, holler.

OMG - what an absolute bummer - and none of it is your fault!
Have to say I agree with Mikey.
Get a new one on order, get them to add upgrades to it for free, and a loaner or that damaged unit for use in the meantime.
You're the customer, you're paying the money - you're in the driving seat.

I only pray I don't have these problems when mines shipped over - at least you're on the same continent!!!
