We all have different concerns that peak our interest. Thousands of RVs have been built with the handle that only swings or can swing over the entry door. This feature is not new. I frequent a lot of RV websites and have never read of a single incident where the handle prevented an exit from the RV. I'm way more concerned about the cheap round China made black things (tires) that are standard equipment these past few years.

All good discussion! It reminds me to think before I DO 😳. I do have the nearby window but thanks for the thought starter. I am old and sloooow 😂. Likely would call for help and be embarrassed.

I can't think of any further supportive response other than just take the thing off, so I'll follow ependydad's lead and bow out

Yes,Remove the spring loaded Pivot Pin from the bottom Cam assembly that is attached to the RV side! Now remove the spring and Drill completely through the bracket, now replace with a 1/4" bolt and Lock Nut! or drill the bolt for a Small Lock! This is only if you want to feel More secure from someone just Lifting and Moving the Grab Bar across your Door! Youroo!!

This has been interesting. I used to only worry about leaving the handles out and knocking people off sidewalks. Now I have something else to worry about! MM

Why worry about such a small thing until the beer and food runs out someone will come along and help if not if a few weeks they will smell you

I heard this years ago, so I tried it, my handle will open up when you push the door from the inside. Maybe it is worn in now and not new but mine will open, but your picture looks like the bracket is a little deeper then mine.

IMO, it's not worth worrying about.
I have the same handle design + cannot open my door.

Not unless you close the door on DW. We had stopped at a Pilot to refuel and she went into the camper to potty (hates to use public restrooms). After refueling I noticed that the steps were still down and the grab handle still out. I presume (there I go thinking again) that she had gone into the store to buy some snacks so I put the steps up and folded the handle onto the door. I pulled forward and waited for her to come out of the store - and waited and waited. Finally got out to find her and much to my dismay, heard shouting (screaming) from inside the camper. My next mistake was to let her out.

When I go to sleep I die, now DW could hear a mouse walking. We have no dog to bark, don't want a dog. I'm going to Walmart today and I'll start looking for cable locks, small cable. Can you imagine if someone would pick the steps up at night, that would not be good.
