Check Your windows

I just found this today when washing and waxing my trailer today. The driver side rear window has a stress crack at the top RH side (when looking at window). The Curb side rear window also has a similar stress crack at the LH top corner (when looking at window). I have attached two pictures of the window cracks one on each side.

I have contacted my dealer late today by E-mail and I also sent an e-mail to Cedar Creek. Waiting for them to contact me. My dealer has been very responsive to my issues so far.

I am just letting everyone know to check the rear side windows on their trailer.

Jim,
In the top picture, it looks like the crack extends into the hinge assembly. Is this happening, or am I seeing things?

I am not sure! I cannot see how the metal would crack inline with the window unless the hinge cracked first and then the window. But the other side window is also cracked on the upper rear portion of the window. So is there some sort of movement going on?

I am waiting to hear from the dealer and from Forest River. Hope to hear back soon!

When you replace windows, can you go back with dual pane?

Well I have been waiting very patiently for Forest River to contact me. I wrote Forest River last Wednesday Sept 16,2015 and again on Sept 22,2015. I have not received a reply as of yet on my Window issue. I asked for a e -mail from them as to what they will do with the windows.

I have not heard from my dealer either. I will be contacting them when we get back from our trip out west.

Dose anyone know of another contact at Forest River I could e-mail?

Thanks

Cracked window glass

Jim,
Not doubting your findings.....I'm sure you were right up close looking at this. Maybe its because of the camera angle, but it sure looks more like a little stringer of sealant from the window installation rather than a cracked glass. My experience with tempered glass is that it completely shatters rather than partially cracks. However, maybe you have the double layer glass windows that have an adhesive layer in between (like a car windshield) and that is controlling the crack.

I've had better luck calling CC customer service rather than emailing...can get to them fairly easily that way.

Good luck and keep us updated!

No, I ran my finger nail across the windows and both were cracked. We are on a four week trip and right now we are in UT and will not be back until mid OCT. I will post results when we get back.

Last year I thought I had a couple cracked windows. It looked and felt like it. It ended up being drippings from a clear sealant they used when installing the windows. That would explain why the hinge looks like it's cracked.
I would gently try using a razor blade moving in line with the crack. If it's a something on the glass you'll feel it.

You can even see the ridge or bulge of sealant on the edges of the glass. Get a razor blade and remove your cracks.

Maybe drippings is not the best description. A multi-word description would be the stringy stuff that tends to cling to the caulk gun tip and the sealant being applied. Anyway that is what was on my windows. A razor blade easily removed what appeared to be cracks.
