Choices for Convection Microwave

Looking to replace the standard Frigidaire microwave with a convection microwave in our 2013 CC 36CKTS. Ours is currently a 1.6 cuft, 1000 watt. Is there any brand that we should be looking at? Also any concerns for different wattage ovens? Seen some that are 1100 watts.

Thanks
Greg

Our Berk came with an Amana Radarange. We like it and use it everyday. We full time so it gets a work out. Click image for larger version

We just replaced the Dometic convection/microwave oven that came with our 5th wheel, with a GE Profile Cafe convection/microwave oven model #CVM1790SS2SS. Had to change the back plate and re-drill one hole in the upper cabinet. But it was an exact fit for outside vent and the hole for the power cord, and easy to change out. We are fulltime, so we use everyday.

Hope this helps and God bless,
Mike

mike1poles, thanks for the info. can you give specifics - what did you change the back plate to, and was it just a screw hole you moved in the cabinet?

KitchenAid
Pro Line 1.8-cu ft Over-the-Range Convection Microwave with Sensor Cooking Controls (Stainless Steel)
Item #: 421627
Model #: KHMC1857BSS
Direct replacement for the 30" Microwave we had in our Silverback 29IK. Wife absolutely loves it. The and the swap out is two screws in the cabinet over the microwave and takes less time than I did writing this.
It has 1000 watts Micro power and 1600 watts convection. cooks fast comes with steamer and center rack.
The fan can be directed outside or inside depending on you requirements I had mine ducted outside.
I purchased mine from Lowes and took delivery at store so I could inspect for damage before taking delivery. If you have it shipped to your house and it has damage you will have to fight with UPS. Did this with Best Buy which was not a fun time...

The GE Cafe, is 1.7 cu. ft., 1800 Watts. The new back plate came with the new unit. It has a template from mounting it. The hole I had to re-drill was one of the three that hold from the top, through the upper cabinet. It did not line up with the old Dometic unit. Here is a link to the GE website: CVM1790SSSS | GE Cafeâ„¢ Series 1.7 Cu. Ft. Convection Over-the-Range Microwave Oven | GE Appliances. We purchased ours at Lowe's, good price with discounts too. As someone else said, have it shipping to the store, you can check everything out before you take it home.

Hope this helps and God bless,
Mike

Some of the Frigidaire Convection microwaves are on a recall list due to starting up and running all by themselves. This is a fire hazard and Frigidaire will make it good but if you go this route be careful.

We replaced our standard microwave with a Kenmore from Sears. My guess is that if it fits you can use it.
