I think someone doesn't realize you are talking about a residential refrigerator ruining through and inverter.

Not sure where you people have been for the last 10 yrs. Gm has this system on all their vehicles, Have worked for GM over 25 years, You make get 12 volts at the rear of your vehicle but check the amps. GM has a sensor on the battery cable near battery. The BCM tells alternator when to charge. As for 2 generator its for a snow plow.

I guess that is why I bought a Ford
I'm not asking the charging system to start anything, I'm just asking it to keep a charge on the battery.
How big are the wires on your garage battery charger? I'm sure they are not the size as connected to your truck battery. Those wire need to supply 100's of cranking amps to the starter.
Anyway, load up with batteries if you need to.. Evidently I have a very good one

Just an update. I turned on my inverter at 8:30AM this morning. Drove about 30 minutes and parked the truck. Went to breakfast for an hour. Came back to truck and drove another half hour. Parked and went to a winery for about an hour. Returned to truck and drove until,4:30PM. My inverter never turned off. I have 1 12v deep cycle group 24 battery... It has to be getting charged from truck...

It does get some charge from the truck just not much. As small as the wire is from the truck to camper it won't be much, if it was a lot of amps going to camper it would burn the wire up. You could check with a meter how many amps is at the back of truck. You just can't push a lot of amps through a small wire

You don't need a lot of amps to charge a battery...10 amps max would be my guess and that would be for a short period. 18 gauge for 25 foot wire...

I'll see if I can get up with a friend that's a electrician and let him just check the back of truck. I would be surprised if it was many amps
