Custom cover vs. Universal fit cover

We are going to store our Cedar Creek 36RE next to the house this winter. We are going to put a cover on it. That decision has been made. I really don't want the RV sitting out in the wind, snow, ice, etc. during a northern Indiana winter. Now we need to decide whether to use a universal fit cover or a custom fit cover. The cost difference between the two types is significant, and I don't want to spend money I don't have to spend. We do plan on keeping this RV for a long time, so maybe the investment in the custom fit cover would be a smart thing.

Does anyone have any experience with custom covers vs. universal fit covers? Do the universal fit covers really fit most 5th wheels?

If you use a cover, what did you decide to do?

Thanks for your help and advice.

Mike

I have a v-nose travel trailer so the "off the shelf" covers were already a mismatch. I went to Calmark for my custom cover and am getting ready to put it on for the third winter. Pricey--yes; but a 6 year warranty and the more glove like fit has kept our unit looking like new. Draw string in the bottom hem to pull it tight and lots of gromets to attach bungee cords to keep it snug. Calmark asks for lots of dimensions so the cover is truly made to your unit. I would do it all over again.

We use a ADCO Designer Cover. On its second year and has held up well.
