Dirt Devil Vacuum

Our 2012 vacuum brush is not turning. Also the suction is and has been very poor. We have cleaned the bag, the hose, and vacuum itself with no change. Are these just a poor product or what ideas you have that would help me. Of course no manual and Google is no help.

Check the belt that drives the brush.

We have an ancient hand held corded Dirt Devil, still works great but is only used sporadically. I now keep it in our trailer. If you've cleaned everything and suction is still poor, I'm guessing the motor is going bad. Maybe if the belt broke it is blocking the suction, if you are lucky.

I believe on your Dirt Devil, whole house vacuum there is a secondary filter in the enclosed housing where the dirt bag is kept. This needs to be cleaned at least once a year, I clean mine every spring when I install another dirt bag for the upcoming season.

I would open the housing cover and remove the dirt bag, behind this bag is a secondary filter that is stationary and must be removed and cleaned every once in a while. This should help with the vacuum suction issue.

I agree with this, I found this out the hard way but that was the problem.
