DIY: 38FL Remote water switch

Ok I wanted to add a remote switch to control the water pump from outside/drivers side of the rig for bathroom stops and when dumping. Kind of crazy not to already have one there of course.

Tools:
Screwdriver
5/16" Socket (battery cable)
3/8 wrench/nut driver (Power terminal)
Drill with drill bits (sized for switch)

Supplies:
SPDT/Three position Switch
14 Gauge hook up wire
Terminal connectors
Shrink tubing

Shut down the power and disconnect ground wire:

Pump location behind the docking station and removalable panel - Not the blue wire with fuse holder connects to red wire on pump. This is where the cut is made to insert the switch.

Whole is drilled in the docking station - I put 2 pieces (one on each side) of sticky duct tape to catch all metal bits.

Switch connections with shrink wrap - I split the ends around the screws - probably not really needed but for extra protection. Center terminal routes through the fuse holder and to the pump. One side connects to a 12 volt source and the other connects to the power coming from the inside switch. I took power from the power block for the hydraulics.

I grabbed the power from the hydraulics block - terminal next to the red wire heading down to the hydraulics. I didn't worry as it is only for when I use the pump outside switch and I would not be using hydraulics at the same time.

Temp label for the switch - I have some labels being made but just in case I forget until then....

Good idea Walter. Your switch location is where I put a 3-way switch to control the leds strip lighting for the basement. Looks like I'll have two switches there now. Thanks for sharing!
