Fantastic fan mods

Our Cedar Creek 34RE came with a manual fantastic fan in the bathroom.

It is fine for me, wall switch turns it on. I reach up and turn the crank to open it.

However, the DW is vertically challenged and cannot turn the crank to open the fan without a ladder.

Is there a mod kit that will open the lid electrically when the wall switch is turned on? I do not need 5he rain sensor to close it as we have a fancy rain hood on it.

Or a handle extension.

I prefer not to buy the $250 kit that does it all! We have the top of the line unit in the main area.

I have the same size co-pilot, and I’ve made several mods to relocate other switches and such.

Finally just had to wait for the deluxe model to come ON SALE so everything’s in reach for everyone. I’ll wait to see if others reply, but for what you want, I think there’s only the “all in one deluxe rain model”.

Here’s hoping though.

We hardly ever close the vent lid during camping season, unless nights are particularly chilly. I would think the bigger problem would be using the on/off knob and adjusting the speed. THAT would nice to have as a wall switch like some ceiling fans have.

Here's what we use. The "wand" that comes with it is about 30" long. The replacement knob would not work on our vents so I drilled an offset hole through the existing knobs and used the metal loop off of the knob that came with the kits. Works fine. Our fans are 4 speed, we use the padded end of the wand to push the button that adjusts the speed. Click image for larger version

Here's one
https://www.campingworld.com/dometic...vent-8980.html
but with a vent cover just leave the lid open and the speed set to low for bathroom use and with the remote fan switch good to go. Why close the lid?

I just ended up replacing all the guts of the bathroom unit with the same thing that's in the kitchen. The DW wants to just push a button on both.

Mine has a star shaped knob. If yours does... get a piece of PVC pipe about the same OD as the knob. Make slots in the pipe to match the knob contour and use that for an extension. Some have a bar type handle...even easier.

I made this for my wife. The pins engage the handle to operate the hatch and the black foam pad operates the on/off/speed switch.Click image for larger version

Thanks folks!!!!

What a surprise. I expected little response.

I like the new knob and hook! Interim set up?

Favorite is the $131 kit.

My plan is to open the cover and set the fan on low.

Then turn off the power switch. Would killing the power cause the cover to remain open? Deal killer.

So maybe the expensive kit with the remote might be best. $250?

Thanks!

Thanks!

Yes, the vent will remain open because the switch on the wall cuts all power to the vent motor.
