Finally.......just picked up our new 38FL

After what feels like an eternity we have picked up our new 38FL from the dealer and are now on our maiden test flight (in the snow!)

There are a few snags that need addressing, the biggest being the kitchen counter top is cracked behind the stove, all the way to the wall. This was identified by the dealer but may take months before the replacement is delivered to them. We found some plastic (or something else that we aren't sure about) had stuck to the bed cover but that was switched out with a bedcover from another unit. Also can't get the legs down on one of the sofa beds because the small, white metal button won't depress. Again, not huge but something to be addressed when they install the new counter top. I also noticed most of the locks are sticky and a couple a real challenge when trying to put the key in. Thankfully, I have some white graphite powder at home that should cure that problem.

Thanks to all the support and advice from members of this website, I knew more about the Cedar Creek than the tech giving me the walk through. I have made my feelings about this known to the owner and the service manager. I did ask the tech and the service manager where I need to install the PI 50amp hard wired EMS but didn't get a clear answer. The tech pointed to the mass of wires and hydraulics behind the control panel for the water and the manager pointed to another panel on the opposite side under what would be the location of the fuse relay board. This was at the same time I was asking where the central vac terminated. Presumably behind the same screwed on sheet of plywood in the RHS of the basement?

We have now found places for everything and just need to remember where those places are. Storage space isn't huge but ample for us as we don't tend to travel with too much clutter - until it's time to move it all and then I was surprised to see just what we did have.

I successfully managed to unhitch and use the auto level, now all I'm worried about is hitching it back up correctly. So for now, I'm off to review You Tube for videos. Once it stops snowing I will venture outside and take some photos to post.

Thanks again for all the advice and help I received from everyone before I made this purchase.

Here are some pictures for the electrical and vacuum locations:

This is the left hand side storage - open this and you can see the main power line

You can see the area where there is a hole in the bulkhead - the lower most black wire is the power from the plug area heading over to the right side of the rig

On the right side the Vacuum is below this panel as in the second picture.

Behind this panel that is screwed on is area where all the wires go into the main electrical panel and the charger/converter is behind this panel as well. Probably the best place to splice in the unit.

New 38FL - We're still waiting!!

Congrats on the 38FL. We were big fans of the layout and put money down on new 38FL on the 11th of March and were told to wait a minimum of 8 weeks which would make delivery approx May 6th. Just wondering how long it took for you to get delivery. We live in northern Minnesota.

Ah, the 38FL... The camper we'd have if we didn't want to lock our kids away in their own room in the back...

When you go to hitch back up, keep in mind the Level-Up system works on angles. It doesn't know how far the jacks are extended. So when you hit the left and right buttons to return to unhitching height, it actually returns to the unhitching angle. The rear jacks raise the back an inch or two even on flat ground, so if you don't retract the rear jacks first (or at least get the weight back on the wheels), then the unhitching angle will put the front a couple inches higher as well.
So add a step to the instructions and manually suck up the rear jacks (at least partially) before hitting the left and right buttons to return to hitch height. Then once you're hitched and latched, perform the "retract all" function and suck everything else up the rest of the way.

Have fun!

Well, here we go. Some sample photos of the new rig on our maiden flight over the Easter weekend. Driving snow and -3oC on the Friday, sunny, no wind and +15oC on the Saturday. True what they say in Alberta, "if you don't like the weather, wait five minutes!"

Thanks for all the good wishes and tips one installing the PI EMS. Project for the weekend I think.
