First De-winterization

I just brought home my new 2016 36 CKTS Cedar Creek. I am going to de-winterize it today so we can head south. The dealer says just flush the system, no need to sanitize as when it came to them from the factory it had no water in it. They added water to test the system for leaks, then winterized it. My question is have others just drained the antifreeze and flush the system or did they go through the whole bleach process?

For the few minutes it takes... sanitize. There will be no doubts then.

X2 Sanitize it only takes a short time and is worth it. Make sure WH is bypassed when you sanitize.

Make sure you run through everything, shower, toilet, outside shower. Even though you may not use outside shower, there could still be antifreeze in that line and it will contaminate the water system.

Don't forget about the washer lines if you have those also! They are easily overlooked.

Depends on if you drink water from the sink or use water to cook. If so bleach it. If not no need to bother.

we don't drink the water anyhow, so have never sanitized. Antifreeze flushes out easily with water

Thank you for your responses. Eventually we plan to boondock, so I will sanitize as soon as I figure out how to by pass the water heater. The 2016 comes with the instant hot water, but I would think there would be antifreeze in there also, would that not be correct?

We don't bleach. We do flush. We drink all the water. Guess we are too old to get sick.

Sanitize! Flushing alone for me doesn't get that nasty antifreeze taste and smell out of the lines.

Why use antifreeze when compressed air will do the job?

Since we are in Texas we tend to use our trailer during the winter and not so much in the heat of the summer unless we head north for a few weeks.

I tend to sanitize once a year and that's late spring early summer. I also don't use antifreeze unless i feel we are going to get a very hard freeze, I do a good job of draining the trailer then blowing all the lines out. Now I do put some antifreeze in the bowl and traps.

Trailer lives on the side of my shop in the backyard so I get a beer or 3 and have at it.

We tend to go somewhere every month and since we live in the southern part of NC, I normally just keep heat on camper but this year I did winterize the camper. This Sunday I plan to clean all the RV antifreeze out, we leave on a little 3 week trip next Tuesday. Now I get to camp a lot, the magic day in next Monday.

Did both air, then anti freeze. Just came south for 5 weeks. Ran pressure water thru the system to clean it out. Cleaned water filter housing with bleach; shut off system from water first; then after NEW filter was installed re energized water system.
We used all water extensively today for 2 showers.
We use bottled water for a few days for drinking or coffee until systems pass a lot of water. Then all clear.

I don't have instant hot water, but I understand it is a flow through system (basically a pipe with a heating wire coil around it). Should not involve isolation during winterizing or de-winterizing.

If someone knows more about it please chime in ...

Having just found the condition the factory leaves things that you can't see debris and such I would not take the dealer's word it was OK to just flush, you have no idea of what might have been left in the tanks at the factory. Bleach is cheap a cup full or two overnight in the tanks will kill most anything then a good flush and you will be good to go, that is my plan for the end of March and my first real camping trip with the Flagstaff.

Why bypass the hot water heater?
