We pick up our 2016 29re tomorrow!! Had a 2008 excel 30rso, hoping the silverback can perform as well as that rig did... Seems to be well built and well insulated, we looked long and hard!!

Our dealer is Escape RV in Branchville NJ, but we have never needed any service except a mother board in the furnace when we were in Myrtle Beach and had it fixed there.
You might try Roadhouse Camper in Beach Lake, about the closest to Hawley.

6 Point Level Up System....

Those of you with the 6 pt leveling....what do you find works best to place between jack pads and the ground?

We love our 33IK. Grats on getting the 29RE. as for what i have under my Levelup. i uses some 16x16 plywood pads that are about 3 inches thick. just used up some of the scrap plywood i had at the house. also had a set from the previous 5er that have held up quite well over the years

quick question…do any of you have the sidewinder hitch? When we got the RV home today the fixed part was a little off center which made for a rough disconnect. Do I just use a heavy hammer and straiten it back with a couple of hits…?? Thanks

Question Friday delivery......... water filter selection?

We will be picking up our Silverback 29RE this Friday. I'm curious as to what our forum members are using to filter the city water hookup? I'm reading the 2016 SB will not have a canister water filter built in. Do you suggest the typical Camco blue torpedo type filter or the larger canister Camco replaceable element design. Also, the best setup using a pressure regulator that won't drop the water flow too much in the trailer?

What combination have you found that works for you? Thanks......getting excited for Friday to arrive.

I like the Camco one piece design, white with blue ends. It comes with a short hose for installation. Our inlet is on the back of the trailer and we lay the canister on the bumper. It would work just laying on the ground connected between two hose sections.

We also like the brass adjustable regulator that has a gauge. Just a few bucks more than the non gauge variant.

And while you are picking up the trailer... wander through the "store" part of the dealer and pick out a bunch of stuff. Then "negotiate" their best price on all that.

Worth a try, anyway!

Water filter

After 1 more new filter, out the door goes that system that came in the 2015! Back to blue in line filters available at Wally World or any RV center or on line.

I bought 3 new filters for $25 total at last years FR Rally in Goshen. Otherwise, it would already be gone!

Terrible, price gouging idea! Instead of a stupid filter, charge the $$ for a GOOD LOCAL CHANNEL TV MAST! Now, that's something worth $100 bucks to me! I am going to buy one and install it myself. At age 72, ain't looking forward to lying on that roof AGAIN!!

Congratulations on the new Silverback 5er.

I too purchased a new Cedar Creek 34RL this spring and have had used a tripod stabilizer with the X-chocks to stabilize my 318SAB Cougar in the past. I now leave them at home when traveling. I have found that the king pin stabilizer will not work in most cases do to the auto-leveling feature. The king pin is too low most of the time and the trailer drips and raises as the trailer tries to find level. So you must install the tripod after the motion is completed and the trailer is level. That is when I would need to disassemble my tripod to make it fit.

The 6-point leveling system seems to provide enough stability as I do not need to use the X-chocks.

I do use the tripod stabilizer when the trailer is in storage and is nose high with only the front legs are down.

On the front jacks I use two 4X4-10" long cedar post together under each leg. I also have several 2X8-10" long boards for extra cribbing if needed to support the Lego style supports pads that are used under the legs by the tires. I have used up to 5 pads for each leg to prevent the legs from full extension with 2X8 boards under them for added support on soft ground. The minimum I will used is three pads built in a pyramid style to provide support. I always have at least a base that is built with two pads down and then either one or several pads on top forming a pyramid. This provides a wider foot print for supporting the load of the trailer.

We use a Culligan RV-10 filter with a portable stand. This is inline at the water spigot after the pressure reducer valve. I throw away the disposable water filter after each trip. Since I am retired and my health is more important than tying to save a buck. You can buy the filters at Farm-Fleet or Menards or Wal-Mart for around $10 to $15 each. We will not drink the campground water or cook with it, just showers and washing up. We learned the hard way back in the early 70's that some campground water supplies can cause dysentery. Since than we bring bottled water and refill from grocery stores that dispense water.

X2 on the bottle water, we have never used the campground water but for washing. I plan to install a water softener to keep the hard water stains off the shower doors

I have a water softener and it works great! No skin issues and nice suds when showering. It is a RV Pro 1,000 10,000 grains.

Hey jaygeo1, be sure on the PDI walk through, you make sure inverter and converter are all working together once unplugged from the 50 amp service. When we pulled out of our dealer, we immediately stayed 4 nights in the RV. The inverter went out, the converter went out, and the electric hot water heater coil needed to be replaced??? So don't just skim through the walk through...we have owned rvs for 20 years and blame our selves for wanting to get on the road. BTW...the 29 RE is unreal nice and all those items were taken care of by the dealer (just long distance with a certified mobile repair business). We don't have a filter but are looking so if you have good luck with one...please pass that on. Enjoy your rig!!

Thumbs up PDI tomorrow.....

Thanks Silverback16, we'll be sure to check out the Inv/Conv. system. We choose the Culligan canister water filter. Also got the Progressive 50A EMS, TPMS 507, TrailAir pin box, B&W turnover ball & Companion Slider hitch . A bit more hi-tech than when we had our trailer during the mid-80's. Hope to have the 29RE in the driveway by supper time tomorrow.

Unhappy 1.25" hitch receiver (factory)....bike carrier?

Getting frustrated trying to find a suitable bike carrier using the 1.25" factory receiver. "Not to be used on trailer / 5th wheel" is what I keep seeing as I check out different carriers Is anyone using the 1.25" to carry bikes?

My two bikes weigh about 75 lbs. Dealer will cut out the 1.25" and weld in a 2" if needed.

Jaygeo1, I have purchased this bike rack which works great in the 1.25 hitch. Also can tighten so that it does not shake. A little bit pricey but works very well supporting 2 bikes total weight including bikes is around 100 lbs. you might want to check this out.
Folds up out of the way when not in use.

Warranty and Cautions?

So this bike carrier is OK to mount on the back of a trailer / 5th Wheel according to the manufacturer and doesn't void the warranty? What is the Brand and model? Thanks for the info! 👍🏻

You are correct they state not for RV. I believe all say this do to warranty risk. We have ours and have had no issues. The manufacture is Kuat.
