Fresh water tank drain hose fell off 34IK

Has this happened to anyone else? It happened to a friend while on a trip (they lost theirs), then to us today while filling our fresh water tank prior to taking a trip.
It is under the back part of the 5thW where you turn the valve to drain the tank.

Yup...3 weeks ago. From what I can see, it unscrewed from the tank. Luckily the spray foam kept it in place so i did not lose it. I re-taped the threads, screwed it in place, filled the tank, and all seems to be good now. Now I need to drop the belly to replace the insulation that will never dry out.

This sounds like something Cedar Creek should be made aware of if it is happening so often.

Our drain valve was broken off when we stopped at my nephew's home after being on the road.went to fill the fwd tank and he looks under and asked if water should be pouring out under the camper. Next morning I looked under and saw the broken pipe, took a pair of channel locks and unscrewed the stub to find the bottom of the fwd tank right there. Bought new elbow with correct thread and new shutoff valve, all good. I did spray foam all around the opening

Do the threads appear to be cross threaded? That would be the only reason for Plumbers tape that I can see. These fittings do not need plumbers tape.

Why? Because they are plastic? They are still pipe threads.

Personally, I use teflon pipe dope and not tape but whatever is used lubricates the joint and fills in small imperfections so the joint doesn't leak.

Yes they are pipe threads but tape, dope etc is not necessary by design.
If you take any connection apart on your tt you will not see dope or tape anywhere.

Over the last year or so we've had a very slow drip out of the fresh water drain. I knew it was loose as the tube would spin when I went to unscrew the drain plug. It had been covered in the spray foam so I thought I just needed to tighten one of the metal clamps. About a week ago, I did some exploratory demolition and took the foam out. Low and behold, the drain pipe unscrewed and came out in my hand. I cleaned the threads, used teflon tape and tightened the pipe back into the tank. Not a drip since then. It's so frustrating to find garbage work done by FR only to be covered by foam.

You won't find any on a compression connection. None needed there.

Take a picture of any threaded connection on a TT that does not have some sort of pipe dope or tape that is not a compression connection!

They're probably hand tight when their first put in and then vibrate and back themselves out. The Teflon tape will help bind the threads and keep them from backing out again.

I don't know what your TT has but in ALL the ones I've owned and currently own have tape or dope on every pipe thread connection except those sealed by a rubber taper washer like at a faucet connection.

That and a bit of help from a wrench. I didn't over tighten mine by any means but did it to where it was tight enough that it wouldn't move by hand.

Add me to the list, new rig got home an my wife ask if I was draining the fresh water tank. Sure was, took then 6 weeks to get a replacement tank installed.
