Front cap oxidation.

Have read many post about front cap fade and oxidation. Ours started last June when we moved from a covered storage to outside storage. Did the buffing and waxing, lasted for a few weeks then oxidation started to come back.

Headed to Fl in December, a neighbor was having same problem different make RV. He had purchased Presto Gelcoat Rejuvenator. He had done his 6 months earlier, the cap looks like new, no signs of fading or oxidation.

Was very impressed being in the Florida sun so I ordered a 2 oz bottle and did the top section on December 7th so far it still looks as good as the day I did it. Only time will tell.

I hate to have to replace or repaint, but that is my next step.

If I remember correctly you had both caps replaced. The front first and then sometime later the rear. I think I had my front replaced the same week you had your back cap replaced (April 2018).

My question, how is your rear cap holding out. I think by April of last year they were painting the cap and then covering with clear coat (according to Orvan.).

My front cap is holding up good but I keep mine inside storage when not using.

My rear cap is holding up great, just got the camper back from having the cap repainted, camper looks brand new. Factory paid for having the front cap repainted. Cedar Creek is awesome, a fantastic company, can’t say enough good things about Cedar Creek

2018 37FLK Front Cap Oxidation

Hello all... I have a 2018 Cedar Creek Silverback 37FLK that the front cap has already oxidized. Who can I contact to get this repaired or replaced? Is this something that Cedar Creek should cover? Looking for some assistance... Senior

Dalford: Which ebike carrier do you use for your RAD mini's. Do you use the back of the trailer hitch? Thanks

I had both of my end caps repainted and new decals applied in Jan 2019. I worked with my local dealer and Cedar Creek authorize the dealer to have them painted. The dealer used a body shop that has repaired other 5er's for them.

The Cedar Creek division indicated to me that this was being done as a good will jester and was not under the normal warranty policy. Which is only a one year warranty for the rig.

I would start with your local dealer, also sending photos and documenting the issue to the Cedar Creek Division. I choose repainting over replacing the end caps since this procedure is not as expensive as replacing the caps and not as invasive to the rig.

Good Luck!

I ordered and received my new Cedar Creek in March 2015. Both end caps faded in one year. Took the unit to the factory in Indiana in October 2016 and they replaced both of them under warranty. They would not let me get them painted under warranty. Both of these replacement caps have also faded. I just called Cedar Creek customer service today to see what they would do about these caps fading and was told that as of January 2019 they are no longer replacing or painting faded caps. I asked them about getting new decals for the front and rear caps as I am going to pay to have it painted myself and was told they don’t have any decals. Maybe I’ll just put a Cummins diesel sticker on the front. Lol. [ATTACH]246337Click image for larger version

If I remember correctly in mid 2019 Cedar Creek changed the style of all of their models. The Hathaway model now has a white front cap with a dark colored decal or painted in the middle of the cap with a different decal. An the rear of the unit has eliminated the end cap that are model have. It is now more like the old Silverback 5th wheels, which I believe is slow being eliminated from the line-up. Since all of the Silverback models are dealer stock only now.
