Gel Coat Problem

My 5'er is about 2½ years old and it seems to have a gel coat problem. I don't know how big of a problem is this or how to correct it. Is this something that should be covered under an extended warranty? Thanks for your help.

What's it doing? I can't tell by the picture.

The gel coat is peeling near the top. Did you open the picture to enlarge it?

Please click on the photo to see it full size. That makes it much easier to see what's happening up there.

I sent the original photo to a repair service says this is a "Clear Coat" problem, not a "Gel Coat" problem that it was a $1200 job. Is it?

What harm is being done?

What would you do?

Should this be happening to a camper that was put into service July of 2014?

I do have an extended warranty that may cover it.

Any advice or knowledge will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Looks moe than oxidation going on.I would lookup Cedar Creeks number and call their customer service.See what they think. You could try your dealer, but I'd go to the factory since it's out of warranty.

If it's covered under your extended warranty just have it fixed and be done with it is what I would do.

Take it to a big rig paint shop and get the front cap painted. Cures the problem forever.

If it's 2 1/2 years old and you didn't have the second year warranty from Forest River then most likely you will have to pay for the fix. Are you the original owner? My cap faded at 11 months and the factory replaced the cap at the factory. My first Cedar Creek cap faded too at about one year old and I traded that one in

nothing is being harmed by being like that, just doesn't look nice. Two options to fix. New cap or have it painted by a body shop. As far as if it's covered under your extended warranty, that's between you and them. We can't answer for them.

My '06 DayDreamer started peeling on the front cap about four years ago. The full body paint is ok but only the clear coat is peeling. No cheap fix.

I have the identical unit. Mine had the same issue; twice. My issue was 100% satisfactorily resolved by FR. I have sent the poster a PM to contact me for resolution assist.

My pm did not go through. You need to direct your issue to:
Dldavis@forestriverinc.com
Her info:
Denise Davis
Tel: 260 593 2439
Absolutely the best at her job. I had options and chose a 2017 "Oyster" cap vs brown. Been over a year and never looked back!
I took my unit back up north to Topeka and they fixed me up.

Yep I got an appt at the Amish Famly RV to get mine replaced on May 5th. FR would do it but they had no openings till Oct. I asked bout the oyster cap but they said no can do?? Oh well...they did say they have not got any caps back that were replaced and the new ones are suppose to have more UV protection in the paint...we shall see......

Are they replacing the back too? You may want to mention that. We will be up there May 8th for our replacement.

So far the back is fine. My trailers back is flat and does not have any bubble out sections. I am keeping an eye on it so if it does I'll be calling again.....
