Going Full Time would like info. on C.C 38FB2 5th wheel

My wife and I are going to go full time. We were going to buy a C.C XLR toy hauler, but decided it's time for the Harley to go.
We are now looking at a new 2017 C.C. 38 FB2 fifth wheel. Does anyone know about these units and Ceder Creek for that matter. I've been trying to do my homework. My last toy hauler was a Keystone Raptor and boy was that a mistake. I just don't want to get burn't again.
Any help would sure be appreciated.

I have had two Cedar Creeks and both have been good for me. The only trouble I have had is front cap fade. I don't think you can go wrong with a Creek

I spent the last year in research, and ended up with a Cedar Creek.

But there are many good ones out there........

We have the CC 38FL and love it. We bought it new at the start of 2014 and last year had one of the electric slide motors replaced on the starboard side front living room side (under warranty). Other than that and the usual minor snags that crop up in new Rv's we have absolutely no problems in recommending the Cedar Creek brand. As I recall from a recent visit to a dealership for a 'nose around' the 38FB2 has the large bathroom at the front end so plenty of storage available for personal effects, etc. I know that if we ever decided to go full-time we'd be looking at the 38FL6 which has way more space in the kitchen area but that is just my personal preference.

I think there are 'lemons' with every manufacturer but we are certainly very happy with Cedar Creek and often get compliments when staying at a location.

When we purchased our CC 38rd it was either the FB2 or 38rd. We loved both models. We have been very please with our 2015. We have only had one problem which I am going to fix myself. I highly recommend CC. We did a year long research and determined CC was best after having 2 fifth wheels from keystone. Good luck in your search.

I have a 2016 fb2, love it. we have camped 21 days so far this year, heading out for 7 more this sat. We have had no problems with it. Just got done putting the washer/dryer in it. We have slide toppers, dual pane windows, gen prep and electric heater in bedroom. One thing I would like them do, and its little, is to move the toilet in the half bath, back closer to the wall. I have the on demand water heater, and I use a water softener. I'm sure you will like it, probably would like any CC rv.

We searched far and wide, learning the ropes, finding out info on top of the line fifth wheels and trying to use that info for the best 5'ver that was in our pay grade! After years gathering information; a Cedar Creek is what we ending up thinking fit that spec, and it was not for looks but for build/construction, then the wife had her pick with looks (also her thing is outlet placement [which u have to think about also]). To name a few in that grouping is Montana, Alpine, Bighorn, Pinnacle .... and some that cost 10's of thousands more and not built any better.

With that being said u can have trouble with any trailer! and we have had a few problems but most where from items not made by CC.

Winter camping and heating pad failed = frozen grey tank, same winter electronic circuit board for furnace burns out = no heat. Was that CC's fault no, but it was a pain. Good thing is that CC support was there to help with the cost.

Still take my Creek over others brands.

I did wonder when I saw your user name but was a little unsure because the rank of Inspector isn't too common over this side of the Atlantic from what I've seen. Thank you for your service and if you have retired I hope you enjoy many, many years drawing the pension and RVing to the full.

Every brand has owners that have gotten the "friday build." It sounds like you may be familiar with the term thanks to your last rig. Have you considered bringing in a mobile repair tech at a minimum to help with the inspection / walk through or if you're feeling froggy maybe bring an electrician or plumber friend along to check the trades. You get a home inspected when you buy it, why not the home on wheels?

Did you install the washer/dryer yourself or hire someone? I want to install them in my CC and I need to find a good place to order a pair from. What brand did you buy?

I did the install myself, went pretty good. Used a 2 wheel cart for the washer, carried the dryer up. I drilled for the outlet, little scary.
I have the Ariston (splendid) washer and vented dryer, stackable. I bought them off craigslist, older couple like us, they stated they used them about 4 times, very good condition. Got a good buy on them. Excited to go camping next week to try them. I bought them last Dec, winterized the washer, then after getting it in the CC, I ran a cycle thru it to get the rv fluid out.

It's a very nice rig from my research! We ended up with a Cardinal 3250 because it's 6' shorter (41' vs 35') and has more options to fit in various campgrounds.
We love ours so far and it has more than enough space for us and our lab. Plenty of storage as well.

I would recommend any Forest River product. They have the Forest River Owners Group (FROG). They have a huge rally 800+ RV's attending in Goshen, IN in August each year. Factory personnel will repair any three or four items you have wrong at NO CHARGE. Cedar Creek really stands behind their product and will take care of you.

Love the layout of unit very livable. All units will have some problems that you need to find, but overall i think I have a pretty good unit. I live in it when working on road for Nuclear outages, and haul it allover the country.

Back again. It's been awhile. Well my wife and I started looking at other 5th wheels out there. Redwood,Jayco,Grand Design,and a few others. Not very happy with the quality at all. It seems like Thor has purchaed up many companies and the quality and customer service has gone down the toilet. Just high priced headaches. After much investigation I think we are going to go with the C.C. Hathaway Edition loaded out. So much better exterior finish and trim. C.C. seems like the way to go. I finally found a good dealer who would work with me. The original dealer I was working with turned out to be a joke. Told him to take a hike. I can spend my money anywhere without abuse. We still have not listed our house. Where the heck do you get rid of your STUFF. It's coming out of everywhere. I do not just want to give it away for nothing. Plus I have a Dodge Charger Daytona and a Harley to sell. Are we ever going to get OUT?

Wife and I did that this your. On mother's day decided to have a yard sale on father's day weekend. We called it a moving sale. Made 2x4 foot signs but it on 8 yard sale chat rooms with pics of the big items. It was online two weeks prior and the signs also.
We sold 90% of everything we had out. Just remember the object is to sell it. We priced everything to sell. We only kept what we needed and what we where not giving to our kids when the house did sell. We made $8,700.
We started to get ready to list over the next two weeks. Realtor listed the house on Friday morning, by 8 pm that night had a contract for full asking price. Closed and out 5 weeks later. Living in a 2017 38el and not missing the house at all.
Never thought it would be that fast but it is what it is. Have a moving sale and price it to sell. It is stuff you have not seen or even root you have. Keep the things you cherish and need in the new home, but think if you really need it or can you do without it. We got rid of just about anything so the wife could buy all new.
