Heating - A/C issue
Hi All,
Just returned from my break in trip to Elk Neck State Park with the new 38FL. Everything mostly worked well, but we had an interesting problem. When the furnace is turned on in zone 1, the A/C unit comes on as well. Both are running at the same time. Naturally, when I only kick on the A/C, the heater doesn't fire up with that. Seems like it might be miswired at the digital thermostat? Has anyone else experienced this?
If it is an easy fix, I would rather not drive it all the way to the dealer for the warranty work.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Don

Check on the thermostat that the fan is set in auto not the on position. If it's in the on position it will do what you describe.

Dometic single zone thermostat? Look at page 8 & 9 in the T-stat manual.

There is no "on" setting for the fan on the digital thermostat; just low, medium and high settings. There is an "auto" setting under the "mode" settings, along with furnace, cool, fan, etc.
My thermostat manual only has 4 pages and just shows how to push the buttons for what you want to achieve.

Yup. On fan, switch to auto as they said. Then cycle back to heat and set your desired temp. Low/high wool make the AC fan run continuously.
Edit.. Post a picture of your stat if possible. Maybe different then we are thinking

Good idea to post a pic of that T-stat or a make and model number just so are all on the same page.
Note we have a few T-stat manuals in the forum library (found on the menu bar above). Or, go here...

I have that stat. The fan button is to the left of "Mode".

I finally found a more extensive owner's manual.
Thanks for all of the help. I still don't understand how they think it is a good idea for the AC to come on while the furnace is running just because the fan is not on auto.
Thanks again,
Don

The fan settings on the thermostat only control the AC fan not the furnace fan. I use the fan in the 'on' position will using the AC to help circulation in the camper.
